Dividing it into sections for clarity:
History
Founding (2007)
Antfood was founded in 2007 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, by Wilson Brown, creative entrepreneur, and Polly Hall, an Emmy-nominated songwriter and producer. Antfood’s early collaborators were artists and motion designers, most notably the team at Buck [20] [21], through early projects like Metamorphosis for Good Books [22][23][24] and David Blaine’s Spectacle of the Real. [25] [26]
Early Years (2008-2012)
In 2008 Antfood moved from its original Williamsburg location to a 3000 sq. ft. loft in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York City, near the Domino Sugar Refinery at 221 Jackson Street.
During this period, Antfood built its portfolio of branded content, short-form film, and experiential audio projects. Notable projects from this era include Google’s “What Is Google TV?” [27] and Emirates’ Hello Tomorrow [28][29] , which amassed more than 5 million listens on streaming platforms.
Global Expansion (2012-Present)
The company’s first international office opened in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2012, led by Pedro Botsaris, who became Executive Creative Director and Partner. A second overseas studio followed in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 2017, under Botsaris’s continued leadership. Antfood added a fourth location in Los Angeles in 2021.
In the 2020s, Antfood expanded its practice into immersive and interactive sound design, developing large-scale installations and AR/VR experiences. The studio created spatial and multisensory works such as Panorama Festival x Meta [30], a 360-degree immersive dome sound installation; Verizon × J Balvin: #TheLeak [31], an interactive Super Bowl LVIII experience; The Dream Machine, and A Multisensory Organ, among others.
In 2021, ViacomCBS (via CBS) commissioned Antfood to develop a five-note sonic identity, modernizing the tradition of entertainment-network audio branding. The motif was subsequently adapted across CBS’s local and national news themes, representing one of the most widely recognized broadcast sonic rebrands of the decade. [32] [33]
