Sources

Im compiling foreign language (ie local language) sources for storms here. I don't have time to thoroughly go through and add these, but if anyone else can, it would be appreciated. NoahTalk 22:48, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Hurricanehink: Would you have any interest in helping with this unfolding and prolonged series of disasters? I only have enough time right now that I can research, so I can at least provide sources for people to make an article if they would like to. I recommend focusing on the storms I have already gathered sources for rather than Emnati as it will take a while for its total impact to be felt. If you have time to help, it would be appreciated. NoahTalk 17:05, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Damn that's a lot of sources! I'm a little busy at the moment, but it's OK if we can't keep up with the sources. There will likely be later reports coming out, like on ReliefWeb, and some government reports. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 05:47, 25 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hurricanehink: Added another 200+ tonight and plan to finish Batsirai soon. I then need to do Emnati. I will eventually need to backtrack and get Ana added in as well. Hopefully some people will have time to add sources in because just digging this all up is time consuming. NoahTalk 02:23, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I may try and add some of these sources to Batsirai's article in the coming days if I have time; I've only now found this out and this is very good, glad it's here. Emnati is criminally undersourced and I hope more sources and info can be found as time goes.
I'd attempt to do some source-digging myself, though I'm not sure how since all I use is google, and looking for the most recent (and hopefully best) sources to find. StopBoi (talk) 19:09, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@StopBoi: I will get to listing Emnati sources here within days. I just need to finish up with Batsirai first. I wouldn't worry about Gombe for now since it's easier to find sources a week or so after the storm is done. NoahTalk 19:47, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. StopBoi (talk) 19:53, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Gombe page

I think Gombe should have its page considering it’s a cyclone making landfall in Mozambique; since it’s a vulnerable country, this storm’s potential impacts allow for a page I’d say. StopBoi (talk) 17:31, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've already checked. There's a draft for the cyclone as of now. Mobius Gerig (talk) 03:01, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think the draft looks good other than maybe a preparations and impact section. Hurricane Su (talk) 12:57, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Issa Page

Issa should get a page considering it killed 59 people in South Africa and caused damage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hurricane Su (talk • contribs) 12:07, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The death toll for this storm is now at about 259, with some reports of 308 fatalities coming in. This is a storm that deserves a page. VantaWiki (talk) 20:33, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hurricane Su there is no consensus on the creation of the page at the moment, because not even Météo-France has designated it as a "severe (sub) tropical storm". The storm reached 95 km/h in sustained winds of 10 min. Much debate is going to have to be had on this. Good thing I saved the only JTWC link talking about "Invest 92S". MFR could do a post-season review on Cyclone Issa, and that could change everything. André L P Souza (talk) 04:01, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Very few, if any, reliable sources directly link Issa and the ongoing floods in South Africa. The South African Weather Service only calls it a "cut-off low". Since we have to follow reliable sources, we can't justify directly giving Issa an article. However, an article on the floods does exist at 2022 KwaZulu-Natal floods. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 04:17, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyclonebiskit: – Given what you've stated above, and as none of the four references in the Issa row of the summary section storm table directly attributes 435 deaths and $1,570,000,000 in damages to the April 12 – 13 April Storm Issa, why does it the table state that it was? Dumako merge proposal

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
The result of this discussion was to merge Tropical Storm Dumako into 2021–22 South-West Indian Ocean cyclone season. (non-admin closure) Aviationwikiflight (talk) 14:32, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I am here to propose merging Tropical Storm Dumako into this page. Most of the page is just a duplicate as to what's on this page, and it is basically just another case of Typhoon Rex in which the page is only 5.8k bytes, so I think it can be merged comfortably into this article. Let me know what you all think. Accordthemusician (talk) 14:54, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
