Since several of the names used in Southern Hemisphere tropical cyclone seasons pre 1980 have been lost to time, I am writing a note on each of the talkpages to explain where I got the names from. I am hoping to rediscover these names, in order to update List of historical tropical cyclone names (LOHTCN) and season articles as well as to give editors a better idea of who named what. As of May 13, 2023, LOHTCN currently shows that the names Adele, Amber, Beatie, Bettina, Cheri, Bridget, Gladys, Audery, Leoine and Esther were used in the Australian region during 1968-69. It also shows that the name Becky, Colleen, Hortense and Irene were used in the South Pacific basin. The sources cited were the Old Australian Database, the NZMS summary; "Tropical Storms and Hurricanes in the Southwest Pacific: November 1939 – April 1969", a book written by Ana Maria d’Aubert & Patrick D. Nunn entitled Furious Winds and Parched Islands, Tropical Cyclone Impacts along the Australian east coast from November to April 1858–2000 a document written by a former BoM TC forecaster: Jeff Callaghan. The season article also provides two documents from the BoM entitled Historical Impacts Along The East Coast & Historical Tropical Cyclone Impacts in New South Wales.

After viewing it in the British Library today: Tropical Cyclones in the Northern Australian Regions 1968-1969 season shows that the names Amber, Beatie, Bettina, Cheri, Enid, Gladys and Leonie were used by Perth, while Audrey was named by Darwin and Brisbane used Adele, Bridget, Colleen, Irene and Esther.
