All the Way... A Decade of Song & Video is the sixth home video by Canadian singer Celine Dion, released on 20 February 2001 by Columbia Records and Epic Records. It is a collection of her English-language music videos and live performances, including nine of her signature songs and seven newly added videos.[2] A DVD/CD package combining the video release with the album All the Way... A Decade of Song followed on 22 September 2003.[3][4] In February and March 2009, a Visual Milestones edition of the DVD was issued in Europe and Australia.[5]
Background and conception
The compilation includes several of Dion's most notable recordings, such as "My Heart Will Go On", "Because You Loved Me", "Beauty and the Beast", and "I'm Your Angel". Newly added tracks include a remake of the Roberta Flack classic "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", as well as "If Walls Could Talk", a Mutt Lange composition featuring background vocals by Shania Twain. This video had not been previously released. The collection also contains "Then You Look at Me", the theme song from the film Bicentennial Man, which reunited Dion with composer James Horner. The DVD additionally includes a bonus video and other supplementary material.
"Beauty and the Beast", "Because You Loved Me", and "To Love You More" were sourced from the ...Live in Memphis 1997 home video. "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and "All the Way" originate from Dion's 1999 CBS television special All the Way... A Decade of Song.
All the Way... A Decade of Song & Video spent 47 weeks on the Top Music Video chart in the United States, peaking at number 15.[6] It was certified platinum by the RIAA for shipments of 100,000 copies.[7] According to Nielsen SoundScan, the release had sold more than 300,000 copies in the United States by May 2010, making it eligible for triple platinum certification.[8] The video also reached number three on the Australian Music DVD chart and was certified eight times platinum, with sales of 120,000 units.[9] In the United Kingdom, it received a platinum certification after reaching 50,000 copies.[10]
An expanded edition containing six additional videos was released in Japan in 2008 as part of the Ultimate Box set.[11]
