Talk:Eva Díaz (art historian)

"US-based" or "American"?

Why do we refer to Díaz as a "US-based" art historian, etc. This seems slightly odd and ambiguous syntax, especially in the first sentence of the lead. Is she an American citizen? Was she born in the US or did she immigrate from somewhere else? If we have a source, let's make this clear. -- Cl3phact0 (talk) 09:15, 19 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Many Latin Americans take exception to having the US treated as "America," and will specify if someone is from the US versus other parts of the Americas. Avengers23 (talk) 14:13, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Without intending to venture into questions of identity or offend anyone's sensibilities, I am only trying to establish if she is a US citizen. Alternatively, questions of nationality (implicit or stated) could be removed from the lead altogether (e.g., "Eva Díaz is an art historian and critic..."), as the rest of the article clearly establishes that she is in fact US-based anyhow. -- Cl3phact0 (talk) 14:48, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with removing it, we shall leave the political question of America/the Americas aside :)
She is Puerto Rican according to: https://www.frieze.com/article/no-existe-un-mundo-poshuracan-whitney-2023-review. Which would make her a US citizen, but where born, I don't know. Avengers23 (talk) 16:40, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
