Final award and last awarded

Recently there has been a change that is listing what were previously described as "last awarded", are now reading as "final award", I can't get to revert to "last awarded" category following the infobox guide. How do I fix this problem? Final Award reads like the award is no longer presented, which is rarely the case. i.e. | final_award = or | lastawarded = --> ColonelLight (talk) 06:34, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The last awarded field is only intended to be used for awards that are no longer presented. The recent change was made in order to make that clear.
If you want to add the latest award ceremony for an award that is still being presented, then instead you should use the separate fields previous_awards, previous_date, and/or holder (which has a customizable label field holder_label). - Burner89751654 (talk) 16:28, 23 February 2025 (UTC), edited 16:50, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This change seems to have broken a potentially large number of infoboxes across the project, for example Nobel Prize in Chemistry and Turing Award, just to name a couple I've found, which now say "Final award", giving the impression that the award has been abolished when it hasn't. @Burner89751654: rather than pronouncing that "the last awarded field is only intended to be used for awards that are no longer presented" and then effecting a change that breaks a lot of articles that don't meet your rule, the onus is on you to go through all the affected articles and adjust the infobox before making such a change. Unless I've missed something, and there's more to this change than meets the eye, or a solid effort is made to fix the broken usages, then I am minded to revert it. @Pppery and ColonelLight: FYI. Fine with me. * Pppery * it has begun... 17:33, 26 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
"Last awarded" is ambiguous. It could mean either the previous award or the final award. I'm ok with changing the label so it doesn't mislead people when the template is misused. But we should also have an option that isn't ambiguous. I'd suggest that we change the label on the "year2" and "lastawarded" fields back to Last awarded. But for the "final_award" field, keep the label as Final award. And in the documentation, we should suggest that people use the "previous_awards", ""previous_date", and "final_award" fields, rather than the "year2" and "lastawarded" fields. - Burner89751654 (talk) 18:44, 26 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Template-protected edit request on 2 July 2025

Add ability to embed other modules in a |module= param. This is a standard feature in other infoboxes, e.g. in {{Infobox person}}.

To do this, below | data53, add the following line of code: | data80 = {{{module|}}} (note that "80" is an arbitrary large number; can replace with like "99" or "54" if you want). Also, change | awarded_for }}<noinclude> to | awarded_for | module}}<noinclude> grapesurgeon (seefooddiet) (talk) 01:12, 2 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Remove short description feature

The template automatically adds a short description of "Award" when in the lead. This is a violation of WP:SDNONE. About 64% of the pages transcluding it already have "award" in their title. Another 16% have "prize" or medal". That's 80% of all uses of the template. Considering that pages where the template is not in the lead probably don't have either of these terms in the title, this template almost never gets it right. Image included despite empty parameter

At the current version of Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (permanent link), the image parameter is empty, but the infobox displays File:Annie Murphy (cropped).jpg. I think this is happening because this is the image for d:Q989450. I'm not familiar enough with Wikidata to understand why a single random winner should be the "image" for that entry, but I don't think it should be included here.

Instead of manually suppressing that entry, should we consider disabling images carried over from Wikidata? I think Wikidata has its place for simple facts, but I struggle to imagine a case where an image should be carried over from Wikidata – image selection feels like an editorial decision that should remain fully in the local community's control. In the interest of not showing incorrect images I have removed the WD functionality from the infobox image parameter, though for the cases given by andrybak above the |image= will need to be populated by those images. If this change is undesirable I will of course self-revert. Primefac (talk) 21:00, 25 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
