• Replied in user space. As for the content dispute here (which I know a thing or two about) - I will weigh in with a source as it seems A Companion to Border Studies might be good for border studies, but poor in internal Israeli politics (outside sources often have these issues). See - Haaretz 2009 reprint of 1981 - 63 in favor (including 8 from Labor, the main opposition party), and 21 against (including 13 from Labor). Many Labor members also didn't show up to vote (Labor actually decided not to vote - the 21 Labor voters acted against the party decision). This caused an internal crisis in Labor - annexation very much fit with Labor policy in the 70s and early 80s - they built the settlements and were in charge in 1967 and 1973-4 - Labor's shift to peace for land (including the Golan) was later - mid to late 80s. Labor held 47 seats in the 57 seat strong opposition at the time . Weigh my comments, this source (and others) as you may, I'm staying out of this beyond this.
