I just removed an entry for Denmark listing a full-price supermarket as a 'dollar store'. Føtex isn't even a discount store. People more knowledgable about other regions/countries should look into other entries. If this egregious an entry found a way into the list, I suspect there are other entries that need to be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Teral (talk • contribs) 07:38, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

History needed
The history of this kind of store is lacking. For example, they suddenly appeared in Germany around the last decade of the 20th century. And in the U.S., there were five and dimes, later either changing to or changing in colloquial speech to dime stores (fifties and sixties), followed around the end of the 20th or beginning of the 21st century by dollar stores, which around 2023 stopped selling only one-dollar items, in some cases moving to $1.15 or $1.25 before, by 2024 or 2025, expanding to all sorts of relatively low prices. There certainly are primary sources about these things, but maybe someone can find good secondary sources. For Romania, there is https://news.google.com/read/CBMiakFVX3lxTFBpUlhWMXRKblN6d0RzTS1mVHJuU29yRTM1YXRKWS1jTHRCQkRiZWpNQWxnWE1kc0JpQ1FKTXdGbVpjVjlNU2RET2pQdjJaRlkycjFNMW4wLWlHVGZJTkp0SlJRVnVISEpMQlHSAW9BVV95cUxOYUxEZjhNMXYwTzg3UVFOSWhpXzdTNE1nTWhlWlk1M2RXSGhHS1AxejZJcWVmWlk4YjhoWV9aNUphYy0zZGFZZ2lwVXdndWhETmRNNEYwOUk4NGVLdjJlUFNHVFdtMG52WXNTeVhNcUE?hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen Kdammers (talk) 17:02, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
