TÄNA AJALOOS, 26. september ⟩ Pandi alus Eesti majanduse IME-le
1987 – ajalehes Edasi ilmus Siim Kallase, Tiit Made, Edgar Savisaare ja Mikk Titma artikkel ettepanekuga viia Eesti täielikult territoriaalsele isemajandamisele (IME).
Artiklis välja pakutud majandusprogrammi idee Eesti NSV iseseisvaks majandamiseks ja majanduslikuks iseseisvuseks Nõukogude Liidu koosseisus ilmus ajalehes Edasi. Idee põhimõtted said aluseks Rahvarinde majandusprogrammile.
26. septembri sündmused Eestis:
1629 – Altmargi vaherahuga loovutas Rzeczpospolita kogu Lõuna-Eesti ja Põhja-Läti Rootsile.
1885 – ilmus Venemaa Ministrite Komitee asjadevalitsuse ringkiri, mis sätestas Balti kubermangudes venekeelse asjaajamise ja kirjavahetuse.
1935 – sõjaringkonnakohtus algas vapsidest terroristide protsess.
1938 – Johannes Klesment nimetati Vabariigi Valitsuse nõunikuks.
1939 – riigikogu riigivolikogu ja riiginõukogu välis- ja riigikaitse komisjoni ühisel koosolekul arutati Nõukogude Liidu nõudmisi vastastikuse abistamise lepingu (baaside lepingu) sõlmimiseks. Komisjon nõustus astuma läbirääkimistesse ja võimalusel sõlmima lepingu.
1950 – kaotati maakonnad ja vallad. Nende asemele loodi rajoonid ja nende allüksustena külanõukogud.
1952 – toimusid 28. septembrini kestnud Tartu ülikooli (taas-)asutamise 150. aastapäeva üritused. Ülikooli varasemat ajalugu ei tohtinud meenutada.

1991 – Eesti Põllumajanduse Akadeemia nimetati Eesti Põllumajandusülikooliks (alates 27.11.2005 Eesti Maaülikool).
1992 – toimus Eesti Kongressi viimane, 10. istungjärk, mis võttis vastu deklaratsiooni seadusliku riigivõimu taastamisest (Eesti Kongressi esimene istungjärk oli 11.–12.03.1990).
1994 – riigikogu avaldas umbusaldust peaminister Mart Laarile.
1995 – Venemaa andis Eestile üle Paldiski tuumaobjekti territooriumi, mis oli viimane võõrvõimu käes olnud ala Eestis.
1997 – Tallinnas taasavati renoveeritud klubi Club Hollywood, renoveerimine läks maksma 7,5 miljonit krooni (Hollywood avati 21.09.1995).
1998 – Tallinnas Mustpeade Majas Vennaste toas peeti Eesti Vabade ja Tunnustatud Vabamüürlaste Suurlooži asutamiskoosolek. Esimeseks Eesti Suurlooži suurmeistriks valiti Arno Köörna.
2008 – jõustus valitsuse nn patareimäärus, mille kohaselt olid tootja ja turustaja kohustatud tagasi võtma piiramatus koguses patarei- ja akujäätmeid ning sõltumata sellest, kas tarbija kavatseb osta uue patarei ja/või aku või mitte.
Ja maailmas:
1629 – Altmargi vaherahu lõpetas 1600 alanud Poola-Rootsi sõja.
1687 – osaliselt hävis Ateena Parthenon Venezia ja Türgi vaenutegevuse tagajärjel.
1810 – Jean Baptiste Bernadotte nimetati Rootsi troonipärijaks.
1815 – loodi Püha Liit.
1944 – Punaarmee hõivas Cēsise.
1950 – ÜRO väed vallutasid tagasi Lõuna-Korea pealinna Souli.
1957 – toimus Leonard Bernsteini muusikali «West Side Story» esmaettekanne.
1997 – Itaalia keskosa tabanud maavärinas hukkus 11 inimest ja varises kokku Assisi Franciscuse kirik.
2002 – Gambia ranniku lähedal uppus Senegali reisilaev, hukkus 1863 inimest.
2009 – Filipiinidel maabus taifuun Ketsana, mis nõudis seal ja teistes piirkonna riikides umbes 700 inimese elu.
2022 – Läänemeres Bornholmi saare lähedal toimus neli plahvatust, mis lõhkusid mitmest kohast Nord Stream 2 gaasitoru.

- 1935 – sõjaringkonnakohtus algas vaps-terroristide protsess.
