Invite to Join Wikipedia Asian Month 2023
You are receiving this message because you participated in the Wikipedia Asian Month 2022 as an organizer or editor.

Dear all,
The Wikipedia Asian Month 2023[1] is coming ! The campaign start within a flexible 30 days from November to December. Following with the changes of the rules made by last year, the wish to have more people get to know Asia and Asian related topic is the same! Click "Here" to Organize/Join a WAM Event.
1. Propose "Focus Theme" related to Asia !
If you are based somewhere in Asia, or have specific passion on an Asian topic, please propose your "Focus Theme" by October 25th. The WAM international team will select 5 themes. Please propose your focus theme through this link[2].
2. Enhancing existing articles can also count as part of campaign contribution.
Any edits, including creating new articles or adding new content to existing articles, over 3000 bytes in total would be able to get a reward. Last year, due to this change of rules, the Programs & Events Dashboard was suggested. However, according to community survey of 2022, Fountain Tool is still the best platform for tracking edit and points. You don’t need to create any Dashboard. For the tracking of editing existing article, the international team is currently designing a form. Will soon publish to the main page of WAM 2023.
3. More flexible campaign time
The contribution duration would remain 30days, but we extended the overall campaign timeline to 2 months. All organizers can decide when to start their WAM as long as the whole duration is within November 1st to December 31th. It means that you can participate in WAM based on the needs of your local community.
Timetable

- October 5th to 25th, 2023 : Call for focus themes of WAM 2023.

Orphaned non-free image File:SallieWyattStewart1942.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:SallieWyattStewart1942.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of non-free use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:38, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, I found the free image that replaced the 1942 image, which should now be deleted. Thanks B-bot! Penny Richards (talk) 03:45, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
Image tagging for File:HildaGraysonFinney1942.png
Thanks for uploading File:HildaGraysonFinney1942.png. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.
To add this information, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

File:HildaGraysonFinney1942.png
Hi Penny Richards. The non-free use rationale template you added for File:HildaGraysonFinney1942.png is malformed and isn't being displayed properly because there's an error in its syntax. I believe this is because you're trying to embed citation templates into the |source=
parameter. This is confusing the Wikipedia software since it's unable to distinguish between the various templates and figure out where the non-free use rationale template is really supposed to end. I suggest you remove the citation templates and just add the url for where you found the image as the source. This should fix the problem and allow the non-free use rationale template to work as intended. Once you've done that, you can remove the {{No copyright holder}}
template added by the bot. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:59, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oh! That's helpful to know, thank you. I'll do that from now on. Will try to fix according to your instructions now. Penny Richards (talk) 15:07, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Penny. I appreciate you trying to sort things out and you did fix the source parameter problem; in the process of doing that though, you created some other issues. Anyway, I've cleaned things up a bit so they should be OK now. For future reference, it's really a good idea to use any type of WP:TEMPLATE exactly according to the information given on its documentation page because that's pretty much the only way to ensure that the template will work as it's intended to work. If add something to the template's syntax that should be there or remove something that should be there (even by mistake), the software won't know what to do and indicate an error has been made. For reference, the licensing template
{{Non-free biog pic}}
and the non-free use rationale template{{Non-free use rationale biog}}
tend to work well together for images like this; so, I change the rationale to that template.Finally, you might want to ask about this file at c:Commons:Village pump/Copyright because there's a possibility that newspaper your giving as the source of the image is within the public domain (i.e. is no longer eligible for copyright protection). If that's the case, the photo itself might also be within the public domain. Commons doesn't allow non-free content to be hosted there; so, if you do ask about the image, please explain the file is currently uploaded locally to English Wikipedia as non-free content and use the url for the files page as the link for the file. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:30, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
