Pontécoulant (French pronunciation: [pɔ̃tekulɑ̃] ) is a commune in the Calvados department in the Normandy region in northwestern France.

Geography

The commune is part of the area known as Suisse Normande.[3]

The commune is made up of the following collection of villages and hamlets, Launay and Pontécoulant.[4]

The Commune along with another nine communes shares part of a 5,729 hectare, Natura 2000 conservation area, called the Bassin de la Druance.[5]

The communes single watercourse is the River, La Druance.[6]

The commune is completely enclosed within the commune of Condé-en-Normandie.[4]

Points of Interest

National heritage sites

  • Château à Pontécoulant is a seventeenth century Chateau that is open to the public to visit, after its owners in 1908 left it to the department.[7] The chateau was listed as a Monument historique in 1927.[8]
