The Pacha Group is a Spanish holding company specializing in the entertainment and hospitality businesses. It was founded in 1967 by Ricardo Urgell[1]. It is best known for its ownership of Ibiza nightclub Pacha Ibiza. Also among its portfolio of assets are Destino Five Ibiza Hotel and El Hotel Pacha[2]. The Pacha Group also owns merchandise brand The Pacha Collection and nonprofit The Pacha Foundation[2]. In 2024, The Pacha Group reduced its carbon emissions by 34% and transitioned to 100% green power operations[3].
2023 FIVE Holdings Acquisition
In October 2023, Dubai-based FIVE Holdings acquired The Pacha Group for €302.5 million through a Green Bond and Revolving Credit Facility[4]. The acquisition included various assets such as the Pacha Ibiza Nightclub, Destino Pacha Hotel, El Hotel Pacha, The Pacha Collection, Toy Room, WooMoon and Storytellers[2]. Additionally, the acquisition encompassed registered trademarks, including the global rights to the brand name "Pacha" and its logo design featuring two cherries.
Founder and Executive Chairman of FIVE, Kabir Mulchandani, assumed the role of Chairman of The Pacha Group. Aloki Batra, CEO of FIVE Hospitality, took on the additional role of CEO of The Pacha Group[5].
In March 2024, FIVE Hotels and Resorts launched Playa Pacha[6], at its beachfront resort, FIVE LUXE, located in Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), Dubai.
Logo
The Pacha Group's first logo was inspired by Carmen Sevilla’s eye makeup[7]. In the early 80s, Yvette Montsalvatge designed a logo[8] for Guinda S.L.[9] (Spanish for cherry[10]), a company in The Pacha Group. The logo featured twin cherries and was printed on a large number of posters to announce events for Pacha Ibiza. The logo features on the majority of Pacha’s branding[11], from the Ibiza club’s facade, to the Pacha Collection - a range of merchandise.
Pacha Ibiza
Pacha Ibiza opened on the island of Ibiza in 1973, six years after Ricardo Urgell opened the first Pacha club in Sitges, near Barcelona in 1967[12]. Built in Ses Feixes and facing Ibiza Town, Pacha Ibiza was designed to resemble a Ibicencan farmhouse[12][13]. In the 1970s, Ibiza was already gaining popularity as a destination for hippies[14][15] and free spirits seeking a bohemian lifestyle[16][17]. Pacha was included in The Telegraph’s round up of the "Best 11 Clubs in Ibiza", in June 2024, in which it was said the club “changed the clubbing landscape when it opened in 1973, not only on the island, but across the world”[18]. In 2022 BBC News featured Pacha Ibiza in a broadcast for their Witness History[19] series, called "The nightclub that changed Ibiza", in which it says "In June 1973, the nightclub Pacha opened in Ibiza, and it turned the island into a destination for music and party lovers from around the world"[20].
Between the 2017 winter season and summer 2018, Pacha Ibiza underwent a major renovation[21], designed with the help of architect Juli Capella[22]. British electronic music magazine Mixmag noted, “The booth is now located in the middle of the dancefloor, in the aim of making the club more in tune with the 21st century and placing an emphasis on the experience between the clubber and DJ”[23]. This was followed by a further two refurbishments in 2019 and 2021[24].
Artists who have performed at the club include Pete Tong[25], Carl Cox[26], David Guetta[27], Claptone[28], Calvin Harris[29], Tiësto[30], Swedish House Mafia[31], Solomun[32][33], David Morales[34], Paul Oakenfold[31], Peggy Gou[35] and Diplo[36] among others.
Pacha Ibiza is also known for its residencies, where electronic music artists host their signature events once a week for the duration of the season. Past residents include David Guetta, whose F*** Me I’m Famous night ran from 2001 to 2018[37], and Swedish House Mafia[31]. Summer 2024 included Marco Carola with his Music On night[38], Solomun’s +1 event[32], along with CamelPhat on Tuesdays[39], Robin Schulz at Pure Pacha on Thursdays[40] and Blond:ish, who became the club's first ever female resident headliner in 2025[41].
Pacha Ibiza’s summer season also includes its Flower Power night, which began in 1981 and takes place every Saturday. In a 2023 article, The Guardian referred to Flower Power as the club's "earliest themed night"[31]. The event features guest DJs alongside resident Bora Uzer. Decor at Flower Power pays homage to Ibiza’s hippie roots with “a psychedelic explosion of sunflowers, peace signs and shrooms; a warm, quirky and inclusive environment”, according to Clash Magazine[42]. A 2016 article in the Financial Times, also refers to "psychedelic lighting and go-go dancers on podiums".[43] The event hosts special guest performances, with Grace Jones, Róisín Murphy and Boy George among those who appeared during the 2024 season[42].
Pacha Ibiza celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023. The milestone was covered by El Pais[44], Vogue Magazine[13], The Guardian[31], The Telegraph[45], Hola! Magazine[46], Mixmag[47], DJ Mag[48], The Metro[49], Rolling Stone UK[50], Wonderland[51], Condé Nast Traveller[52] and more. To mark the anniversary, The Pacha Group released a coffee table book titled Pacha Ibiza: 50 Years of Bliss. Described by DJ Mag as “a comprehensive look at the club’s evolution over five decades”[53], the book features historical snapshots with personal anecdotes from DJs, celebrities and industry insiders[54].
In line with The Pacha Group’s sustainability policy, Pacha Ibiza is registered with the US Green Building Council targeting LEED Gold or Higher certification and runs on 100% green electricity[3].
El Hotel Pacha
In 2003, The Pacha Group acquired the hotel opposite Pacha Ibiza, El Hotel Pacha[55]. The hotel is situated close to Marina Ibiza, Ibiza’s Old Town and Destino Five Ibiza[56].
El Hotel Pacha runs on 100% green power and is also registered with the US Green Building Council targeting LEED Gold or Higher certification[3].
Destino Five Ibiza
Destino Five Ibiza, underwent comprehensive refurbishment in 2025, which upgraded its rating from four-star to five-star[57]. The hotel has a state-of-the-art contemporary design. Also encompassing The Pacha Group’s commitment to sustainability, aiming to achieve LEED Gold or Higher certification. In 2024, the property saved 24% water during the 2024 season over that in 2023; the hotel also runs on 100% green power[3]. Destino Five Ibiza also has an open-air stage that hosts events, including Marco Carola’s Music On Day Time[58] and Solomun[59].
The Pacha Collection
The Pacha Collection is a line of fashion and lifestyle products featuring the twin cherries logo[60]. The collection includes items such as clothing, accessories, fragrances and home decor. In line with The Pacha Group's sustainability policy[61], it has an emphasis on sustainability and ethical practices by using eco-friendly materials such as Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) and organic cotton.
In 2024 the Pacha Collection included collaborations with a number of electronic music acts, including Marco Carola, Blond:ish and Keinemusik[62].
The Pacha Foundation
The Pacha Foundation was established as a private nonprofit organisation in late 2018 with the goal of consolidating and formalising the social welfare efforts initiated by the Pacha Group[63].
Following the acquisition of the Pacha Group by FIVE Holdings in 2023, Kabir Mulchandani, Founder and Chairman of FIVE Holdings, took on the role of President of the Pacha Foundation, guiding its initiatives and impact[64].
Since the 2023 acquisition The Pacha Group increased funding of Ibiza-based initiatives by 350%[3]. This includes protecting Posidonia meadows on the island in collaboration with National Geographic explorer Manu San Félix[65], offering marine education to young people. The Pacha Group also achieved a 34% reduction in its carbon footprint in 2024, adopting an emissions-free energy supply in all its operations. Pacha Ibiza now runs on 100% green electricity[3].
Awards & Recognition
Pacha Ibiza appears regularly on the DJ Mag Top Clubs 100 list[66], a poll which has been voted for by readers of the magazine since 2006[67]. The club’s highest placement is #3 in the world. In 2024, it was #20 with DJ Mag calling it "one of the world’s most iconic clubs"[68].
The club is also featured in several “Best Clubs In Ibiza” and “Things To Do In Ibiza” lists published in titles including The Times, GQ Magazine, Elle Magazine, Glamour, Billboard, The Daily Telegraph, Cosmopolitan and Lonely Planet, where it was referred to as "the original Ibiza megaclub".
Kabir Mulchandani was featured in Entrepreneur's Middle East edition in 2024, which highlighted his Diario de Ibiza’s Business Career Award for The Pacha Group’s cultural and economic impact on the White Isle[64]. This included reducing water usage by 24% at Destino Pacha Hotel during the summer of 2024[3].
