History

Aquinas Honor Society is an honor society at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. It has existed since at least 1951.[1] In 1959, the society presented its first annual scholarship to a student at the university.[2]

The induction ceremony for the Aquinas Honor Society is held each spring as part of the UST Senior Honors Convocation.[3][4][5] Members receive a key at the ceremony.[5]

Symbols

The Aquinas Honor Society key is similar to that of the Phi Beta Kappa. After receiving the key, the member is entitled to wear the key with his or her academic regalia.[citation needed] No specified means for displaying the key are given, therefore keys are often displayed by various means (chains, pins, or attachments) on the academic robes of graduating students.[citation needed]

Membership

Membership in the Aquinas Honor Society is open to graduating seniors who have a 3.00 cumulative GPA and who been on the Dean's List by achieving a 3.30 GPA or better in at least five different semesters on campus.[4]
