Adil Osmanov (born 2 July 2000) is a Moldovan judoka.[1] He won a bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Early life
Adil Osmanov was born to an Azerbaijani father and a Moldovan mother in Moscow.[2][3] He moved to Chișinău in 2017.[4]
Career
In 2021, he won bronze at the 2021 European U23 Judo Championships in Budapest.[5] He again won bronze at the European U23 Championship in 2022, in Sarajevo.[6]
He secured a silver medal at the European Open in Warsaw in 2023.[7] He won the bronze medal at the 2023 Grand Prix Upper Austria.[8]
He won the 73kg category at the 2024 Grand Prix Upper Austria in Linz, defeating Koen Heg of the Netherlands in the semi final and Rashid Mammadaliyev in the final.[9][10] He followed that with victory at the 2024 Grand Slam of Antalya.[11] This was a first gold medal for Osmanov in a Grand Slam - and came just a few weeks after his first gold medal in a Grand Prix.[12]
Competing at the 2024 Summer Olympics, he won the bronze medal in the 73kg.[13]
