| Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | |
|---|---|
|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection). After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to remove obvious vandalism. Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level
Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level
Request a specific edit be made to a protected page
Please add an edit request to the talk page of the protected page before adding an edit request here | |
Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Temporary full protection:Since this article pertains to an organization it is highly susceptible to vandalism and distortion of information by rivals, random users, hackers
- Johann Sebastian Bach (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
RfC is currently open at Johann Sebastian Bach with 4-5 editors accepting changes with citations added to the proposed text, and two editors opposed User:Martindale and User:Francis Schonken. User:Francis has now started editing the page without waiting for the RfC to end along with User:Martindale as the two opposing editors who are in agreement with each other. Talk page of the Bach RfC and Talk page for Martindale have been notified to await the close of the RfC to no effect since User:Francis has decided to now close the RfC he has participated in by himself without waiting for a proper close, and then to continue to force his edits into the article. The RfC has also been listed for Admin close on the appropriate noticeboard, which currently has a little backlogged. Requesting short Full Protection for two weeks in order to allow for the Admin close of the RfC as it was listed there on the appropriate noticeboard last week. Fountains-of-Paris (talk) 17:35, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- While writing this request I have noticed that the editor User talk:Francis Schonken has started to revert again on the Talk page to force his version of the edit and RfC into the Bach article against Wikipedia policy and guidelines for edit conduct. Could someone look at this to protect the page. Fountains-of-Paris (talk) 17:46, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. 186.84.46.227 (talk) 19:54, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – With the huge jackpot and media coverage, this page has been getting some semi-regular vandalism and is under some high scrutiny. With the drawing coming on Wednesday, it will only get worse. --allthefoxes (Talk) 20:25, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Edits directly against WP:FOOTY consensus to include notes that matches are not official. Qed237 (talk) 00:39, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
- The Challenge: Battle of the Bloodlines (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Article attacked with uncited spoiler vandalism almost immediately after the end of the last semi-protection; Challenge season articles have historically been plagued with uncited spoiler vandalism and additions of poorly-sourced content through their initial MTV run. One-month semi-protection recommended, which should cover the remainder of the season. DPH1110 (talk) 01:06, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
- California Valley Miwok Tribe (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Semi-protection: The corresponding talk page has been indefinitely semi-protected for the past year, based on continual refusal by POV IP editors to source statements, refrain from deleting existing sourced text, etc. Unfortunately, the actual article page was not semi-protected, which has allowed a regular string of POV unsourced IP edits such as all these. Could an admin semi-protect California Valley Miwok Tribe to ensure that editors wishing to modify the article are at least contactable, so we can try to engage in a discussion? Many thanks. Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – recent non-constructive edits by ips and non-confirmed editors . Onel5969 TT me 02:56, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

Temporary pending changes: IPs are adding numerous inappropriate and unsourced materials to the article almost immediately after its creation. AdrianGamer (talk) 03:18, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Requested only as a last resort. Article is about the origin of a dish called Laksa, and some editors insist on listing Malaysia as the sole place of origin even though valid sources have been provided to show that other countries like Indonesia also originated this dish. These editors refuse to engage in discussion about conflicting content even though they have been repeatedly advised (5 times) to do so on the article talk page and on the revert comments [1][2][3][4][5]. Instead, they keep reverting and removing sources that weaken their preferred version. In addition, when the pro-"Malaysia is the only country that created Laksa" editors are reverting and removing the other sources, they are have been adding repeated instances of the same single source(Asiancorrespondence) that claims Malaysia as the sole source of origin as if to further reinforce their bias. Just need a semi/temporary page protection to encourage all relevant parties to discuss the issue on the talk page. Zhanzhao (talk) 04:34, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
- Update - As I had previously suggested in the talk page, I have created a new section in the article listing out all the different "origin" claims, all with references/sources given. However, even this get blanket removed, as non of the other editors are willing to discuss their edits. Other than page-protection, or if the decision is to not protect it, is there any other way I can force the editors to discuss the issue? Or any other board I can make a request? Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting a request for unprotection, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.
To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page's edit history and click on the "View logs for this page" link (located underneath the page's title). The protecting administrator is listed in the protection log entry, next to the words "protected", "changed protection level", or "configured pending changes". If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" to filter the logs accordingly.
DO NOT request a reduction in protection if...
- ...you are being prevented from editing the page. A desire to change content is not a valid reason for unprotection. Instead:
- If you can edit the article's talk page, use the WP:Edit Request Wizard to propose a change on the article's talk page. Include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterward.
- If the article's talk page is protected, you may propose a change at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit.
- ...your reasoning for reducing protection is that the article has not been vandalized. That simply means the protection is working as intended.
- ...your reasoning for reducing protection is basically "a long time has passed" without supporting details.
- ...you haven't contacted the protecting administrator.
You may request a protection reduction below if...
- ...you want to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection. You may add the request to this page without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
- ...you need to remove creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
- ...you are proposing a trial reduction in protection for a page that has been protected for several years, provided the proposal is supported by evidence such as talk page activity, page views, page traffic, number of watchers, frequency of edit requests, and prior history of vandalism.
- ...the protecting administrator is inactive or has not responded to you in several days.
If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it's been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Requests for specific edits should be made on the talk page of the protected article. You can create an edit request below only if the talk page is also protected, preventing you from adding a request there.
- You may add the appropriate template (
{{Edit protected}},{{Edit template-protected}},{{Edit extended-protected}}, or{{Edit semi-protected}}) to the article's talk page if you would like to request an edit be made. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - For edit requests being made due to the editor having a conflict of interest with the article subject (see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}template should be used instead of the others listed above. - Requests to move pages that are currently move-protected should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not on this page.
- This page is not for holding discussions regarding content. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit that you wish to be performed.
Otherwise, this is the correct place to use in order to add an edit request if you are unable to add one to the article's talk page. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to properly add a request.
