Removing NCAA totals

What do you have against NCAA career totals? Is there some consensus not to display them that I'm unaware of? --MikeVitale 20:03, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I am not aware of any discussion on it, but most articles omit them. I find that multiple totals is hard to read so I prefer to only keep one total in stats tables. Wheatzilopochtli (talk) 20:06, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding multiple totals, it seems to me that having one total per league is the norm. At the very least, that appears to hold for professional leagues (if not necessarily NCAA). Examples: Mark Howe, Gordie Howe, Wayne Gretzky, Angela James (though that one could definitely do with some TLC). --MikeVitale 20:55, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's a case by case basis thing. Significant time in a second league like WHA/NHL makes sense. When it's a limited sample and/or a lower/less important league, I wouldn't include it. It's not nearly as bad with two leagues as it is with three.
It made sense to include NCAA when the it was the highest level of women's hockey but it isn't anymore. My rule of thumb has been only include the highest level played unless there is a compelling reason to have a second total. Wheatzilopochtli (talk) 21:05, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
