I think we use the WP:COMMONNAME of events where applicable – I'm all for piping out "Murder of" from the links, but I don't think we should obscure common names in instances where the article title doesn't use the victims' names. For instance, Plymouth shooting doesn't list (all) of the victims' names, so we can't assume readers would know what they're looking at in this navbox. I'd therefore propose that in instances where the article title is "Murder of [name]", we pipe out "murder of". When it's the name of an event, we pipe out the year (as the template gives us the year already) and use the common name per article title. So it would be:
