GA from 2010. Fails criteria 2. Nominating this because there is one failed verification tag, with a discussion that has been abandoned since it started in April 2021, and one citation needed tag, excluding the one from the lead. VAUGHAN J. (TALK) 03:01, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to have to do a ref review just like the GAN reviews, so I'm going to review it within a week or so. Ping me when it's been over a week and I haven't started it yet. — VAUGHAN J. (TALK) 09:43, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vaughan J.Reverting due to premature closure. If you are doing both the nomination and the reassessments you have to allow time for other editors to fix the issues. You cannot close the reassessment within 24 hours. If you are unaware of proper procedure, allow someone else to finish the job.— TheWikiholic (talk) 16:03, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Vaughan J., I have fixed the citations that you noted above. If there is anything else, let me know. By the way, it is a good practice to leave your signature even when you are doing a review. Regards TheWikiholic (talk) 17:55, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 12 April 2025

In the "Personnel" section, the source is improperly cited. Please replace with this: Allard, François, and Lecocq, Richard. Michael Jackson: All the Songs: The Story Behind Every Track. United Kingdom, Octopus, 2018. 138.9.182.141 (talk) 10:07, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: The page's protection level has changed since this request was placed. You should now be able to edit the page yourself. If you still seem to be unable to, please reopen the request with further details. (CC) Tbhotch 01:35, 13 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Modified “recording” section

I modified the “recording” section because it is more in accordance with how colloquially and popularly know certain sounds of the song. e.g. Shooting Star -> Falling Star.

Additionally, I added missing information where the recording of the howls is mentioned, since only “half” of Bruce Swedien’s speech is taken as a reference, where he mentions that Michael made the howls, although it includes material from sound libraries.

After looking for the origin of the sound, and with the help of the official multitracks, I tracked the sound to “The International Sound Effects Library” (1983), where this file appears for the first time with the name “Coyote Howls and Barks, Animal”. Although there are variants of this sound in different pitch and speed in later libraries such as “SoundStorm”, “SoundDogs”, “Wild World of Animals”, etc., the oldest origin is from the 1983 library, where vinyls were marketed with the sample before the digital version in 1999.

I put as a reference to the wiki, because there’s the most complete information of this sfx, and within that page, there are links to all the variants of the complete and cpped audio, although there is not yet a specialized article that visually proves the coincidence. Even so, the existing reference to Swedien’s interview served as a sufficient source to add information to the page, in addition to the fact that the Wikipedia external links section explicitly mentions avoiding citing open wikis “[...] except those with a substantial history of stability and a substantial number of editors.” SAMUK MIXES (talk) 01:40, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FANDOM is not a reliable source. Anyone can edit it at any moment. (CC) Tbhotch 02:01, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
where can I find a good source for this information then? This information is real, even if that wiki doesn’t work as a source SAMUK MIXES (talk) 03:15, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You can refer to WP:Reliable sources for further information on what constitutes such sources (including webpages, newspapers, books, magazines). As a general rule, if something is not covered by a secondary reliable source (even if true), it is unrequired to be published. (CC) Tbhotch 03:34, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I can just put the fandom content template:
  • {{Fandom content
|sitename=soundeffects
|official sitename=fandom
|article=Sound Ideas, COYOTE - HOWLS AND BARKS, ANIMAL
|datecopied=02 august 2025
|date=August 2025
}} SAMUK MIXES (talk) 03:50, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
and also, what about the other changes I made? SAMUK MIXES (talk) 03:51, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, because you would still be citing Fandom. That template has attribution purposes when you copy their text verbatim and incorporated to Wikipedia.
Other changes made need to be attributed to a source. (CC) Tbhotch 22:58, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't need to cite any sources, as these are changes in spelling and wording. SAMUK MIXES (talk) 23:16, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Then you can perform the changes. (CC) Tbhotch 23:30, 3 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
