Nanjing Massacre was a Warfare good articles nominee, but did not meet the good article criteria at the time. There may be suggestions below for improving the article. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

- Numerous scholars have stated that the Japanese Wikipedia version of the article (南京事件) contains revisionist and denialist narratives.[204][205][206][207] They note that the article notably lacks pictures and expresses doubt about the massacre in the first paragraph of the article. In 2021, Yumiko Sato translated a sentence from the first paragraph: "The Chinese side calls it the Nanjing Massacre, but the truth of the incident is still unknown".[206][207] -

- Formerly, numerous scholars have stated that the Japanese Wikipedia version of the article (南京事件) contained revisionist and denialist narratives.[204][205][206][207] They note that the article notably lacked pictures and expressed doubt about the massacre in the first paragraph of the article. In 2021, Yumiko Sato translated a sentence from the first paragraph: "The Chinese side calls it the Nanjing Massacre, but the truth of the incident is still unknown," though it has now been changed.[206][207]- 119JD (talk) 03:57, 1 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
They have changed the first paragraph as it now says "The Nanjing Massacre ( also known as the Rape of Nanjing ) was a massacre of civilians, prisoners of war, and stragglers by Japanese forces over several months ( most of the massacres occurred over a few days from December 13th) following the capture of Nanjing" 119JD (talk) 22:24, 1 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
From a brief look at the Google translation of the Japanese article it does indeed seem fairly neutral now. However, if I or you say so, that's WP:OR which is not allowed here, so it's like InfernoHues said: in order to mention this here, we would need a reliable source commenting on the change. Currently I only have the Japanese Wiki Page, and even if you just use Google Translate (as unreliable as it is) it will show the change has been made. However a reliable source has not yet been published on the topic. What would work as a reliable source on the matter? 119JD (talk) 22:27, 1 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I request for where it says "rape, torture, arson and murder" to be changed to "rape, torture, arson, and murder" please. I also request for where it says "murder, rape, torture and general disorder" to be changed to "murder, rape, torture, and general disorder" please, so the wording would be better. ~2025-37836-85 (talk) 22:39, 1 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I request for where it says "slashes the throat of a prisoner in Shanghai" to be changed to "slashes the throat of a POW in Shanghai" please. ~2025-40288-19 (talk) 01:29, 13 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not done. That article uses only the spelling with k in bold in its lead and as that was the usual spelling at that time (when the safety zone actually existed), I'd say it makes sense to keep it. Gawaon (talk) 02:45, 21 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
