Talk:List of 60 Minutes episodes

Full season with or without repeated segments

There is an open question about how many shows to include in a full season. There are two options to consider: (A) stop at the broadcast of the season finale or (B) include all broadcast shows including ones after the finale which mainly includes repeated segments.

@Wikipedical: stated that "before this list gets too unwieldy and difficult to maintain, only episodes with new segments should be listed here. full repeats are not notable and this page will be unsustainable" source: Old revision of List of 60 minutes episodes.

I have a different view, but understand how someone may conclude that many repeats are not notable. Let me make a case for option "B". There are a few reasons to keep the post-finale segments.

First, The correspondents record new introductions to repeated segments with updated contextual information about any changes since the original broadcast. The CBS News pages for each re-broadcast will have an updated date showing the latest date, plus the original broadcast date.

Second, there was important information that got lost from removing these post finale updates. In the season 56, episode 47 "Trump assassination attempt; Rise; Modern Ark" on July 14, 2024 was removed by the previous edit. This episode and possible others will need to be restored. I understand that we could treat situations like this on a case by case basis if option "A" is chosen.

Third, I found that the production staff's choices of which segments get re-broadcast gives insights into current events. I believe the mix of segments in each episode may offer future readers a historical context of what was going on in the world. Since this is a news program, there are current events between end of season in May and the new season in September do get reflected by these editorial choices.

As the primary editor for this content so far, I am too close to this topic to offer an objective opinion. I would like to arrive at a conclusion that is satisfactory for all future edits of the page. Looking for other editors to help inform the path forward. Thank you for the input. - DutchTreat (talk) 14:53, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Firstly, thank you for contributing so much to this page. It will be a real accomplishment when we have a comprehensive list here, so great job working on this. My view is certainly (A). I don't think episodes with rerun segments are notable, even if they have newly recorded introductions, and rerun episodes are not present on other TV series' episodes lists. As CBS notes that the 60 Minutes season begins in September with a "premiere," and ends with a "finale" in May, I think our list should follow the network as our source. As a compromise, each season's section could include information in paragraph form about additional new segments if they happen to air during the summer. And yes, we should restore the episodes with new segments, like the one you mentioned from July 2024. -- Wikipedical (talk) 17:56, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Wikipedical: You make several solid points. Let me think about how to best use the work already completed on post-season episodes with repeated segments to bring the most critical pieces of information forward in paragraph form. DutchTreat (talk) 08:25, 3 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

All other seasons?

Where is everything between season 3 and the most recent ones? Willing to help fix this it it's due to lack of info, or would like to be directed elsewhere if there is information about the ones not listed here. ~2025-33241-53 (talk) 05:13, 30 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@~2025-33241-53: I have been working on closing the gaps between the end of season 3 and the start of season 56. My current focus is on finding references for each episode in season 54 and season 55. If you want to help with this project, you can {{ping}} me on this page or my talk page. We can discuss how to coordinate a joint work effort. - DutchTreat (talk) 00:14, 2 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Are physical TV guides and/or digital programming lists from cable providers an acceptable source? ~2025-33241-53 (talk) 05:00, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
