Friend (disambiguation)FriendFriend – There are 37 bulleted entries listed upon the Friend (disambiguation) page, two of which contain additional entries — Friend (given name) [3 entries] and Friend (surname) [44 entries]. Users researching the meaning of Friendship can access that entry directly. Those interested in the TV series Friends can likewise access it directly or peruse the Friends (disambiguation) page which has 101 entries. Thus, it would seem intuitive for the initial cap "Friend" to flow directly to the disambiguation page, rather than serve as a redirect to Friendship. The lowercase "friend" could still flow to Friendship. — Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 22:31, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure if April Fool's, but the links Friend and friend are more than friends so to point them different places would take some doing. Dekimasuよ! 04:38, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I heard there is a strong friendship between WP:NCFIRSTLETTER and Template:Lowercase title. They say it's not very friendly to think an uppercase Friend link behaves differently than a lowercase friend link. I guess you have to make really, really good friends with the MediaWiki developers, likely on a friendly Phabricator discussion, so they make the friendly change to fix this technical restriction that has been unfriendly to some Wikipedia editors since Wikipedia's friendly debut in 2001. However, I doubt the MediaWiki developers will make that friendly change anytime soon because it seems to be an unfriendly low priority for them. Since this prevents part of the OP's friendly argument, I'm still not sure if the 37 friendly bulleted entries currently on the Friend (disambiguation) page make up for what has been the friendly long-term significance of the term "friend" to primarily mean "friendship". And when I look at the massviews of all these links, I am finding the current results very unfriendly to determine what the friendly primary usage article would be, because the top ones are partial or non-exact matches to the search term "friend", like The Friend (2024 film) and The Friend (novel). The Friend (2024 film) in particular probably also gets that unfriendly WP:RECENTISM-bias inflated numbers, for being a new friend to us since last year. So sorry for being unfriendly, but I am staying neutral on this one. Thanks, friends. Zzyzx11 (talk) 14:50, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
