Talk:1903 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships

Title

I've just noticed FOARP's WP:BOLD move of this page. I formally object. I understand the logic of renaming to what the event was at the time, however similar to the 1924 Winter Olympics initially being named "International Winter Sports Week", per WP:COMMONNAME this should have been left as is. Per WP:BOLDMOVE, this should have gone through the requested moves process. Please revert back to the original article name of 1903 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Didn't think this move would be controversial but I'm OK with reverting it. The common name is not clear in my view: FIG's 100th anniversary history doesn't appear to refer to it by any particular name. The 125th anniversary history just calls it "International Tournament in Antwerp". FOARP (talk) 18:30, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Understandable, especially for someone that likely isn't neck deep in the sport. They've retroactively bestowed that title to the event. You can see the progression of events here with the upcoming event scheduled as the 53rd in the series. The FIG's history page notes "1903 Four countries participate in the International Tournament in Antwerp (BEL), the first step toward the formation of the World Championships. Today, this meet is recognised as the first Worlds." GauchoDude (talk) 20:17, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
