Expanding
I plan on expanding the article very soon, but in the meantime please edit as you see fit. The sources provided contain most of the information available, and further research should bring up more. I couldn't find a picture of the actual flight so I stole an ordinary El Al 707 pic. Hope that's ok. Wikifan12345 (talk) 07:56, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Question
Nice work, wikifan. One question: re this sentence: "Following 40 days of negotiations, Israel secured the release of all the hostages and the hijackers" -- Did Israel secure the release of the hijackers as well as the hostages? If not maybe you would reword that part? Tundrabuggy (talk) 18:19, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. According to the second source, Israel managed the release of the hostages and the hijackers. The hijackers were freed and never faced criminal action. I would like to see sections and further details but at the moment I'm rather preoccupied. Wikifan12345 (talk) 19:17, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

- LOT Polish Airlines Flight 165 hijacking → LOT Polish Airlines Flight 165 (1978)
- LOT Polish Airlines Flight 165 → LOT Polish Airlines Flight 165 (1969)

- Air India Flight 112 plot → Air India Flight 112
– Generally, if there is a known flight number for an aviation accident or incident, then it should be used as the title with no further modifications (WP:AVTITLE). These flights don't seem to have any unique common names, so the flight numbers alone should be sufficient. Edit: I forgot to mention but a new disambig page for LOT flight 165 should also be created. Mr slav999 (talk) 18:50, 12 February 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. - Support probably could have been requested at RMTR, but having a discussion doesn't hurt. 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 19:53, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- Support: per above. Per WP:AVTITLE and reasons stated by @Mr slav999. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 20:38, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- No comment, except for the last one, which I oppose. It being moved there makes it sounds like it happened, when it was a plan that never went through. I have never liked the AVTITLE suggestions because it is contrary to WP:NCE, our naming conventions for events, which is an accepted guideline. It doesn't tell you what actually happened, a flight name can be anything. Did the plane get bombed or did it experience an accident and its wing fell off or what? The title tells you nothing. They are the least informative titles possible. But this is for some reason how most pages do it so I won't oppose the rest. PARAKANYAA (talk) 04:31, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
- Support all except AI112 per WP:AVTITLE and PARAKANYAA. S5A-0043🚎(Leave a message here) 23:58, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose The TWA and LOT, which I missed before ones - the extra term is a form of WP:NATURALDIS and IMO more WP:RECOGNIZABLE than the year. Oppose the last one per above. Weak support the others I guess. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:26, 18 February 2025 (UTC)

- Relisting comment: Still some disagreements on several entries. Aviationwikiflight (talk) 11:15, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
- Support except AI112 – For consistency with aviation article titles in general. The type of incident (hijacking, bombing etc) is always specified in the infobox anyway. The Air India 112 article, however, is more about a foiled terrorist plot than an aviation incident, so it should probably be renamed altogether (i.e. something like '1986 Air India bombing plot'). --Deeday-UK (talk) 21:20, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
- Note: WikiProject Aviation/Aviation accident task force, WikiProject Aviation, WikiProject Disaster management, and WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography have been notified of this discussion. Aviationwikiflight (talk) 11:16, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
- Support the El Al and Aerolíneas Argentinas ones, Oppose the others - TWA and LOT hijacking per WP:NATURALDIS, the other LOT one as it needs to be moved to LOT Polish Airlines Flight 165 accident, and the Air India one as it was not an actual event, just a - as the current title says - a plot for one. - The Bushranger One ping only 22:48, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose all. The articles are not about the regularly scheduled flights but about an incident occurring on one of the flights. Randy Kryn (talk) 11:03, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
- Comment: The vast majority of articles titled after airline flights are about occurences on those flights and not the flights themselves. We have American Airlines Flight 191 instead of American Airlines Flight 191 crash, Pan Am Flight 103 instead of Pan Am Flight 103 bombing, Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 instead of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 shootdown, Pan Am Flight 73 instead of Pan Am Flight 73 hijacking, etc., so your argument doesn't really make sense.
