The TN 60 was a French first thermonuclear weapon.
The 1 megaton TN-60 missile warhead entered service in mid 1976 as an interim warhead for the MSBS M20 SLBM. The TN-60 was the first French warhead "hardened" to penetrate the Russian ABM defenses around Moscow. The TN-60 was replaced with the TN-61 starting in 1980.
This warhead only used by 16 M20 SLBM aboard L'indomptable SSBN in mid 1976(the fourth boat from Le redoutable class nuclear powered ballistic missile submarine).
The TN-60 warhead tested twice since 3 July 1970 and 14 August 1971 with equivalent of 1 megaton in mururoa attol.
TN-60 warhead also french first thermonuclear warhead developed domestically without foreign assistance. derived from canopus thermonuclear warhead design but it's primary stage using plutonium instead uranium-235 and boosted with Deutrium+Tritium to reduce the weight.
TN-60 warhead design almost similiar performance to United States W-28/MK-28 bomb.
