In 2015–2016, he bagged his first leading role as Lakshya Maheshwari in Colors TV’s popular drama Swaragini – Jodein Rishton Ke Sur opposite Tejasswi Prakash. In 2018–2019, Taneja played one of the most loved characters of his career, Samar Surana, in the romantic comedy Main Maayke Chali Jaungi, which was created by Ved Raj and directed by Dheeraj Sarna.
