Plot
Delhi girl Simran "Ginny" (Yami Gautam) lives with her matchmaker mother Shobha (Ayesha Raza Mishra). Shobha tries to get many grooms for Ginny, but she chases each of them off with her Dabangg style, and her conditions (kids on her time-line, full medical check-up of the groom and a "test drive" of the groom before marriage). Ginny wants a love marriage and is dating Nishant Rathee (Suhail Nayyar). Although they both agree that they are platonic and are just friends now (They used to date earlier)
Satnam "Sunny" (Vikrant Massey), has given up on the idea of love. He just wants to get married and settle down. Sunny is a great cook and wants to open a restaurant. His dad Pappi Sethi (Rajiv Gupta) promises to support him if he gets married. Nimmi Sethi (Mazel Vyas) is his sister and Neha Gulati (Isha Talwar) his mom. Neha asks Pappi to meet Shobha for a match for Sunny. Sunny has a crush on Ginny, but his dad warns him that Ginny is out of his league. Sunny tries to get Ginny's attention at a local wedding, but she ignores him big time..
Shobha calls Sunny for a meeting and suggests that Sunny should marry Ginny. But Sunny has the task of impressing Ginny so that she also says yes. Shobha offers her full support to this task. As Shobha guides, Sunny starts taking the same 8 45 am metro that Ginny takes to work. But every trick to impress Ginny, fails (the old man he offers a seat, refuses to sit as he has piles). Gradually he moves to hi-hello with Ginny. Pammi and Shobha team to generate situations where Sunny appears to "run into" Ginny and spends time with her. Ginny is about to miss her life insurance policy target by 5, so Sunny helps her find 5 new customers. To appeal to her environmental consciousness, he participates in tree planting drives.
Sunny makes a plan to ask Ginny to a concert but she refuses to go with Sunny and turns up with Nishant. Sunny is angry, but Shobha convinces him to continue on the path and let Ginny see his goodness. Eventually Ginny has dinner with Sunny and tells him that she is confused about what she wants from Nishant. They start seeing each other more regularly. Ginny's friends like Sunny and force her to invite him to a trip to Mussorie. Sunny's family sends him with full prep. Sunny manages to get very close to Ginny, as she shares how she never visits the Gurudwara (as she did that only with her dad).. she had her first kiss with the next door neighbor Sumit (Gurpreet Saini). Sunny proposes to Ginny and was about to kiss her, when Nishant arrives. Nishant was jealous of all the pics of Ginny and Sunny and decided to show in Mussorie after initially saying no..
Nishant wants to marry Ginny. He proposes to Ginny in front of Sunny and doesn't even wait for her answer. Sunny returns to Shobha, defeated. Ginny realizes that Nishant is a confused Desi with high tastes, and wants Ginny to live by his standards, while Sunny was happy adjusting himself to her life. Ginny calls Sunny, who avoid her. Ginny meets Sunny and says she is still confused and Sunny tells her to meet him only when she decides what she wants in life. He also tells Shobha and Pappi not to intervene anymore. Ginny makes up her mind and tells no to Nishant, who says that she is just infatuated with Sunny and that's not real love. Ginny is firm.
Ginny invites Sunny to dinner to introduce to Shobha. As luck would have it, Nishant decides to bring his parents to Ginny's place the same night. Ginny calls Sunny and tells him to come the next day as Shobha is ill. Sunny calls Shobha and learns that Nishant has come with his parents. Sunny is angry and decides to intervene the dinner. This is when Ginny learns that Shobha has been trying to hook Ginny up with Sunny. The truth is out Ginny tells Nishant to leave since he didn't marry her when she was ready and now she is not ready to marry him. Ginny also throws Sunny out as he was manipulating her and says she will never marry him.
Sunny decides to marry another girl, Neha, from the colony. He goes personally to deliver the card to Shobha. Now Nishant approaches Ginny and apologizes for proposing to her due to his insecurity. He also says Sunny really loves her and she shouldn't let her go. Pappi and Shobha meet and agree that both are miserable and need to figure a way out to blink first. Shobha manipulates Ginny into attending Sunny's wedding to Neha. Ginny tries to show up Sunny by participating in the wedding with full enthusiasm. She wants to convey that she has moved on. The wedding is the day after Ginny's birthday. On her Bday, Sunny takes Ginny to an orphanage and celebrates her birthday exactly like her dad used to.. Then Sunny takes Ginny to a Gurdwara for the first time since her dad died.
Ginny comes back and tells Shobha that she loves Sunny. The next morning she tells Sunny that she loves him. Sunny and Ginny decide to tell Neha's family, who are local politicians and Jats. They don't take kindly to this suggestion of calling the wedding off. They force Sunny to marry Neha, by threatening to kill his & Ginny's entire family if he resists. The wedding takes place with the bride under a veil. Turns out Ginny went to Neha and convinced her not to take part in the wedding, so they switched places. Sunny is married to Ginny and Neha explains to her family that this is the right decision for her life as well.
