Kel Smith

Kel Smith (born August 26)[1] is one of the few black female American country music singers and songwriters in Nashville, TN. She self-released her debut single "Small Town Night" on July 26, 2019. Kel then released her second single "Don't Count My Shots" on August 26, 2020. Kel is now working on her new self titled debut EP "Kel Smith".

Career

Kel was a fan of pop and R&B as she grew up and began singing as soon as she was able to speak, but it wasn't until later on in life that she found her love for country music. Kel spent all of her younger and teen years singing along to Alicia Keys and Destiny's Child. Kel gave up singing for a short while because she couldn't find her place. After meeting Dylan Schneider at a concert in the singer's home state (Alabama) Kel knew right after that, that she wanted to pursue a career in Country music. Kel then started writing her debut single in January of 2020.

Kel self-released her debut single "Small Town Night" on July 26, 2019. Kel then released her second single "Don't Count My Shots" on her twenty-third birthday. Kel is now working on her self titled debut EP "Kel Smith". Kel has been featured on several UK radio stations[2] and landed the #1 song spot for two weeks on She Wolf Country Radio. Kel is currently not signed to any music labels and is also registered with the ISSA.[3]

Personal Life

Born in Montgomery, Alabama and raised in the small neighboring city of Prattville, Kel Smith no doubt knew she wanted a career in music. Growing up, some of Kel Smith’s musical influences included: Alicia Keys, Jamey Johnson, and Chris Stapleton. It wasn’t until 2 years ago, that Kel knew country music was what she wanted to pursue. Kel picked up her second guitar in September of 2018 after attending her first country concert seeing Dylan Schneider.

After teaching herself guitar in 4 weeks, Kel wrote her first single while in Tuscaloosa in February of 2019, moved to Nashville April of 2019, and released her first single July of 2019. Kel’s love for the simple things in life, are perfectly described in her first release, “Small Town Night” This song was written by Kel Smith herself and it paints the picture of the enjoyment of the simple things worth enjoying in a small town. Always having a buddy’s yard to have a bonfire at, or simply riding the back county roads with the windows down are all lyrics we can relate to. Kel Smith is shaking up the Country Music Industry little by little with her unique voice, sound, and style.

Kel has since released her second single "Don't Count My Shots" on her birthday in 2020. She is now working on her self-titled debut EP "Kel Smith" with the date TBA.
