2024–25 WikiProject Weather Good Article Reassessment
I would like to announce that a new task force has been created to re-examine the status of every GA in the project. Many good articles have not been reviewed in quite a while (15+ years for some) and notability requirements have changed quite a bit over the years. The goal of this task force is to save as many articles as possible. Anyone not reviewing an article may jump in to help get it up to par if it does not meet the GA requirements. The process will start officially on February 1 and will continue until every article has been checked and either kept or delisted. The task force may be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Weather/2024–25 Good Article Reassessment. Noah, AATalk 15:22, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- Articles under review
Hurricane Edith (1971) at FAR
I have nominated Hurricane Edith (1971) for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets the featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" in regards to the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Z1720 (talk) 00:06, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
Created an Rfc with regards to typhoon season infobox procedure
I have created an Rfc on the tropical cyclone project talk page regarding infobox procedure, and whether we should use "Super Typhoons" or "Violent Typhoons" in the infobox. Feel free to chime in with thoughts! AutisticYapper (talk) 05:26, 2 January 2026 (UTC)

January 1996 United States blizzard - 30th anniversary revamp?
Posting this here so it gets a wider audience, but I started a discussion about improving the Blizzard of 96 article as I feel it could desperately need a revamp, especially as we hit 30 years since this historic storm. Feel free to chime in there if you’d like to improve. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 21:19, 6 January 2026 (UTC)

Pacific Northwest floods of 2025
Article appears to be substantially outdated. I'm being this up on the main project page to get people's attention. It has the floods as still ongoing even though it's been well over a month. Please direct any comments to Talk:2025 Pacific Northwest floods. Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 23:23, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
- This is yet another example of a problem we’ve had, which is a bunch of small loosely connected flood articles. I’m getting to the point where I think we should have yearly US flood articles, and just list all US floods for a given year. Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 01:36, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
- I think this is more an issue of most of the editors on that page aren't in WP:Weather and contributed as area residents who were impacted in some way. Now that the flooding has ended, the interest died.
- This and many other floods are notable enough to stand on their own. We don't need yet another aggregated list article. DJ Cane (he/him) (Talk) 13:46, 19 January 2026 (UTC)
- We need to expand and update WP:NWEATHER as a whole to get it out of essay limboland. ✶Quxyz✶ (talk) 15:09, 19 January 2026 (UTC)
