RfC: Taiwan, "country" or "state"
There has been continued discussion and failure to reach consensus on whether Taiwan should be called a "country" or "state" on the Taiwan article: Talk:Taiwan#Taiwan...is_a_country? I've opened an RfC to come to consensus. User:Stephen Balaban - 9:59, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
Requested article creation: Chen Kuan-ting (陳冠廷), Legislative Yuan member
@WikiProject Taiwan: Could an experienced editor please review and move the following draft to mainspace? A fully sourced, neutral draft is ready here: Draft:Chen Kuan-ting Key points: - Incumbent Legislative Yuan member (Chiayi County 2, DPP, elected 2024) - Active on Foreign and National Defense Committee (defense spending, drones, space policy) - Chinese page already exists: zh:陳冠廷 (政治人物) Independent coverage in Taipei Times, CNA, UDN, Storm Media, etc. (Note: I am assisting Legislator Chen, so requesting independent creation/move to avoid COI.) Thank you! Diesirae69 (talk) 04:29, 4 December 2025 (UTC)
- Diesirae69 Because you have a conflict of interest, please follow the steps at WP:COI to properly file a COI disclosure. This is required, as are the steps at WP:COIEDIT.
- Secondly, everything in the draft is uncited. Without any sources, there is no evidence in the article that what is written is not simply original research. You should resolve these issues before going further. Jay-GH 05:26, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
Discussion about WikiProject banner templates
For WikiProjects that participate in rating articles, the banners for talk pages usually say something like:
- "This article has been rated as Low-importance on the importance scale."
There is a proposal to change the default wording on the banners to say "priority" instead of "importance". This could affect the template for your group. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council#Proposal to update wording on WikiProject banners. Slow burning discussion on an important to-do topic
Please see Talk:Cross-strait_relations#Suggest_splitting_military_section_to_Chinese_invasion_of_Taiwan.
Maybe someone here would be interested in boldly doing the deed (splitting content, starting a new article)? Ideally it should be expanded etc. but at the very least we really need a main article on this concept/hypothetical scenario. Piotrus at Hanyang| reply here 06:35, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
