Wikipedia:WikiProject Resource Exchange/Resource Request

Resource Request
How to use this page
Making a request
Before asking volunteers to look for your source, try finding it yourself with the tools at your disposal.
In particular, eligible editors can use the Wikipedia Library, which gives access to content provided by numerous academic publishers.

Warning: for legal reasons, we must note that the Resource Exchange cannot fix any medical problems. But it can fix references.
- Though we would prefer you to ask for a specific journal, article or work, we will accept open-ended questions. You can ask for all kinds of sources here, either on this page or by writing directly to an active user.
- Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, date and identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc. Indicate which article you need this for.
- Due to copyright restrictions, we cannot send you full book/thesis copies. Narrow down your request to a specific chapter or page(s).
- Since we cannot post original copyrighted material online, we will most likely send it by email. Make sure you have specified an email address in your preferences before asking.
- Add the {{Resolved}} template when your request is completed.
- Filled requests are archived. Requests unfilled after three months will also be archived.
What to try next
If you are unable to obtain what you need here, you may be able to get it via the WMF resource support pilot.
Fulfilling a request
- Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests, in full or in part. When fulfilling a part of a request, tell others which one so that they don't have to do the same work.
- Notify (mention) the requester using
{{u|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}. - You can:
- post a URL address ( https://... ) if the material is available online and the webpage does not infringe others' copyrights
- share scans of pages or documents using a file-sharing service if legal
Copyright tips
|
|---|
|
- upload out of copyright works to Wikimedia Commons or Wikisource (make sure your institution's policies allow this). Check Wikimedia Commons's guide for copyright in each jurisdiction if in doubt.
- email a link or plain text to the requester using the Special:EmailUser ("wikimail") feature. Attachments are not supported, so you need the user's email address to send them. You can configure your wikimail in Special:Preferences.

Books about folktales of Southeast Asian peoples (Tai Khamti and Shan)
The following books were written by academics of the peoples themselves.
1 * Sai Aung Htun Dr. (2020). Taikhamti: Legends & Law. Shan Literature and Culture Association. pp. 1-6 (introduction), 75-80 (tale 16. "The Python"), 143-156 (tale nr. 29 "The Young Man from the Emerald Mollusc (Sao Hoi Seng)").
The introduction is for Khamti people as a possible source, tale 16 for "The Story of the Hamadryad" (girl marries python).
The alternate for tale 29 indicates it is a Khamti variant of Sang Thong (aka. "The Prince in a Golden Conch [Shell]"), because "Hǒi-sang" was the name used by J. Leyden and Captain James Low to indicate the existence of the tale in the early 19th century.
2. * Pu Loi Hom; Pu Loi Tun, eds. (2014). Shan Legends. Zaw Oo. pp. 109-121 (text for tale nr. 14, "The Story of Ai Maung of the Tousled Hair (White Shell-fish, the future Buddha)", 300-308 (text for tale nr. 48, "The Story of a Fairy and a Prince"), 314-317 (text for tale nr. 51, "The Youth of Emerald Mollusc").
The Story of a Fairy and a Prince is homonymous with a tale first collected from a Shan source and published by Mrs. Leslie Milne in 1910. Milne's tale is a Shan variant of ATU 408 and the Indian "The Belbati Princess". Would like to see if it another variant or a reedition of Milne's text. In the latter's case, will add it as a reprint and later to separate the Shan tales.
"White Shell-fish" has a parallel title to a Shan tale published by B. R. Pearne in Journal of the Burma Research Society with the title "The Silver Oyster", which has been pointed as a Shan variant of Sang Thong. Possibly another variant of the Shan tale.
"The Youth of Emerald Mollusc" has a similar title with the Khamti "The Young Man from the Emerald Mollusc (Sao Hoi Seng)".

- @KHR FolkMyth:
Sent the second request. – Doc Taxon • Talk • 13:45, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- Hello. Got it. Thank you. Yes. One was a reedition, the other was a version of the tale of "Sang Thong"/Silver Oyster in a Shan tale. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 15:23, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
- @KHR FolkMyth: I'm having a hard time finding information about the first book. It is not the same publisher, but are you potentially referencing this? If not, could you supply a link to an index like Google Books or WorldCat? Thanks. Averageuntitleduser (talk) 14:07, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- Well, I found a link to the National Library of Myanmar, indivating that the book exists somewhere. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 15:28, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- KHR FolkMyth, available copies of the books seem to be few and far between. There is the one that you found in the National Library of Myanmar, and the Department of Ethnical Literature & Culture-Kachin State also appears to have a copy, given the Facebook post here. Two bookshops also appear to have it: one here, for $3.5, and one here (although that post is from 2020). The first of those also includes a link to the book's table of contents, acknowledgements, introduction, and foreword. Note that the author died some months after publication, so reaching out to him is not an option. The reality is that the book is going to be difficult to borrow from a library. The best option would likely be to reach out to some of the parties above, and see if they would be willing to provide a scan of a few pages. (The bookshops may be less likely to do that, but while it's less than ideal to have to pay for sources used on Wikipedia, the cost before shipping does appear to be nominal—maybe they'd provide a scan so you wouldn't have to also pay for shipping?) --Usernameunique (talk) 18:27, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the feedback. I don't know. Is it an alternative? KHR FolkMyth (talk) 20:30, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
- No problem, KHR FolkMyth. Is what an alternative? --Usernameunique (talk) 20:38, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
- To get in touch with the author/publisher. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 20:47, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
- Getting in touch with an author or publisher is frequently a good way to get a copy of an article, especially when it's a niche piece; mentioning that it's for Wikipedia is also sometimes helpful, because it (a) shows it's for research (a reason for which authors, themselves researchers, frequently can relate), and (b) implies that the article might become more widely cited. Particularly here, when you're looking for a book that we can't find a trace of outside of Myanmar, I would try every available avenue. --Usernameunique (talk) 03:03, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- KHR FolkMyth, WP:Resource support pilot might also be an option. --Usernameunique (talk) 07:47, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
- KHR FolkMyth, have you thought about the above idea? The program is looking for more requests. --Usernameunique (talk) 23:32, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- I did think about it, but it is a new venue for me, so I'm not too sure how to make this new request via the "Resource support pilot". How can I proceed? KHR FolkMyth (talk) 23:48, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- I haven't made a request there either yet, but this seems well in scope: a painfully obscure work that will be difficult to obtain without purchasing, and that has therefore been languishing on this page for seven months. You can enter your username at the top of the page here, then fill out the form. You'll need to link to this discussion (which explains the difficulty of obtaining the book), give the articles you plan to use the book for, and provide the link of Myanmar Bookshop (above), from which the book can be bought. Let me know how it goes! --Usernameunique (talk) 23:55, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- KHR FolkMyth, have you decided whether to go with the above approach? I think that is your best bet. --Usernameunique (talk) 02:17, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
- Well, who will provide the funds for purchasing the book? I've been mulling over the question before giving a more definitive answer, since I'm trying to expand the scope of Asian and African topics. KHR FolkMyth (talk) 14:24, 19 January 2026 (UTC)

The Australian
- "Highway a $41m mistake". The Australian. News Limited. 2 February 1988.
Page is unknown. This may have something to help me with Yanchep line.
Thanks, Steelkamp (talk) 02:10, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
- Just FYI (you may already know this), I tired looking at Newsbank online, but it only has 1998 issues onwards. So I'm sorry, I cannot help with this one. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 03:48, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
- Coincidentally, I was just using that database to add sources to the Mandurah line. Steelkamp (talk) 04:11, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Steelkamp I scanned the whole 2 Feb 1988 issue; I didn't see this article. Are you sure these deets are correct? MmeMaigret (talk) 04:41, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Mmemaigret: That was being used as a reference on Northern Suburbs Transit System before that article was merged with Yanchep line. Its possible that this article only appeared in the Western Australian edition of the newspaper. Otherwise, something is wrong in the original citation. Steelkamp (talk) 04:52, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- Steelkamp, that reference was added by Thewinchester in this 2007 edit, with the note "Accessed at State Records Office of Western Australia, Perth". That's an old edit, to be sure, and Thewinchester hasn't been active since September 2024, but pinging here in case Thewinchester has any recollection of it or is able to help. --Usernameunique (talk) 20:42, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- Any further context to this?
- What I can say is, based on the reference and the original commit date, that citation is from a newspaper article that was within Government Archives, found when I was doing in-person research from files requested from their offsite archive.
- Sadly, my original cite at the time does not have the file number, box or other information which would allow me to quickly identify where in the files it was.
- I can say with certainty, that the content I quoted from the article in the commit is a direct and accurate quote of the article observed.
- My best and easiest approach would be to go microfiche hunting at SLWA for this edition if it's on file. Thewinchester (talk) 19:01, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

For Graciosa and Percinet and Animal as Bridegroom (including distribution section). Plantade gives more context to the Mediterranean tradition of the tale type, including the Corsican one.
Bru-Bonnemason's book adds some new variants from the French context. I'm also asking for the sommaire/table de matières for future references.

Divided Sexism: Trans Exclusion by "Feminists"
Along with select other articles in this issue if possible [1]. From what I can tell, it's available at the National Diet Library, but this is only accessible to Japanese residents.

Going to improve Gender-critical feminism by country, Feminism in Japan Thanks, Katzrockso (talk) 01:31, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
- Katzrockso, what articles are you looking for besides that one? Trying to decide whether I should try to ILL the whole thing, or just isolated articles. Harvard appears to have a copy of the issue in question, and is usually good about ILL requests. --Usernameunique (talk) 00:54, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Usernameunique I was looking for most of the first half of the issue, the special feature "Feminism and Trans Exclusion"; I am not sure of the contents but many could be relevant to the aforementioned section of the article - there is not as large a volume of published literature on trans-exclusionary feminism in Japan as in other countries. But if the entire issue is too much, the articles that interested me the most were トランスジェンダー学生の受け入れと女子大学のミッション――日米の事例を中心に [Accepting Transgender Students and the Mission of Women's Colleges: Focusing on Cases in Japan and the United States] 髙橋裕子 and 日本のフェミニズムが問われるもの――トランスフォビアの克服とトランス女性との連帯 [Japanese Feminism Called into Question: Overcoming Transphobia and Solidarity with Trans Women] 三橋順子

- @Usernameunique thank you so much! Not that I can think of, while those issues do seem to be interesting, perhaps for articles like Women in Japan or Feminism in Japan, they aren't within the scope of what I plan to work on. Katzrockso (talk) 02:53, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

Access to Indian folktales of the "Animal as Bridegroom" and "The Love For Three Oranges" (ATU 408)
1 * Red Gem and Princess Sona, sourced to the Magahi language. Mukhopadhyay, Ramkumar (2022). Indian Folk Narratives: Oral Tales from 53 Languages. Delhi: Sahitya Akademi. pp. 368–375. ISBN 9789355481122. OCLC 1356500174.
For The Story of Halahal Kumar. The heroine of "Halahal Kumar" is called Sashisena, also called Sasisona or Sakhi-sona in other languages of Northeast India.
2. Die Schustersfrau als Königin ("The Shoemaker's Wife as Queen") Heunemann, Annette, ed. (1980). Der Schlangenkönig. Märchen aus Nepal. Das Gesicht der Völker (in German). Vol. 47. Kassel: Röth. pp. 91-95 (text for tale nr. 9), 174ff (Anmerkungen for tale nr. 9). ISBN 3876803195.
3. The Crab-Apple Girl and the Parrot, from the Nepali language Mukhopadhyay, Ramkumar (2022). Indian Folk Narratives: Oral Tales from 53 Languages. Delhi: Sahitya Akademi. pp. 486–488. ISBN 9789355481122. OCLC 1356500174.
For The_Belbati_Princess#Nepal. The tales refer to the fruit maiden (ATU 408), in variants from India. I intend to separate the Nepalese/Nepali tales.
4. Dils Lakshmindra Sinha (2020). The Sensitive Ear: A Collection of Bishnupriya Manipuri Folktales. Assam: Eastern Readers Publication. pp. 40-44 (tale "The Daughter of the Sun"). ISBN 9788193594872. OCLC 1178869668.
5. Mullakoya, M.; Sankaranarayanan, Vasanthi (2019). Folktales of Lakshadweep. Vol. I. Sahitya Akademi. pp. 48-52 (text for tale nr. 12, "The Beautiful Woman in the Elephant's Ear"). ISBN 9789389195590. OCLC 1224585642.
Previews for the book indicate that the tales are Indian variants of "The Love For Three Oranges": heroine from fruit, false bride shoves her in water/well, heroine goes through cycle of incarnations and becomes lotus. To break off the non-pomegranate tales from "The Pomegranate Fairy" to another article.

Books on Neapolitan cuisine for Neapolitan ragù
I'm looking for a few books on Neapolitan cuisine in the hopes that they cover Neapolitan ragù. I am confident that Francesconi goes in some depth, and not sure at all whether any of the Sorrentino book's cover the subject. I have had little luck searching, and none are in libraries close to me.

The book is organised by French department numbers. I'm not sure if it's volume 9 but it should presumably be under chapter 62, which is definitely called Pas-de-Calais. The question is whether the references that are in the Rail section support the current wording of the text. Very likely that the book is offline and only available in France.

The East Bengal Civil List
I need this for creating a list article for the 1st East Bengal Legislative Assembly and Amin ministry. Sending cabinet and assembly member's list by scanning related pages will do. It is a very rare document. It is available at some libraries in Dhaka, but the problem is some of those libraries don't give the document, some of those charge good amount of money to read and capture images of its pages. Also the libraries are far away from my home and I have no plan to go there in the near future. Google book says that University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has this. Could anyone please collect it? Any version before 1954 will do. Thanks.

First Fruits
Hey folks, this is a tough one. I'm working on a sandbox article for the Huntington Hartford Foundation. There's an important source from the Foundation that was published in 1956. It is more commonly known as First Fruits, and is held by major libraries under that name, but two of them have it under Six Years of Accomplishments so I included that alternate OCLC just in case. UCLA, Harvard, and NYPL all have copies. Thanks for any help. If you have access to the work, let me know as I have a few questions, mostly having to do with the history of the property and the names of all of the fellows, as they are very hard to find. There were supposedly 400 famous artists hosted by the Foundation, but the sources are almost non-existent. One of the reasons this is important to me is because while Huntington Hartford was a very flawed man and had some very strange, eccentric ideas, and caused a lot of problems in the art world at the time, there are recent sources that attribute some measure of historical interest to his indirect promotion of the concept of contemporary art over the term "modern" (he wasn't the first, but he helped contribute to this debate), and the idea that his art colony, for all its wasted money, produced some measure of success, results which have been lost to time and are left to others to discover. This is also a very California-oriented topic unique to that state's history, and there's a dearth of coverage about it. For comparison, we have Druid Heights in NoCal, Moy Mell in SLO, and Rustic Canyon, this topic, which has not been covered on Wikipedia in any depth. Thanks. Article by Denver Webb from Issue 31 of The Coelacanth (1993)
- Webb, Denver (1993). "Paul Xiniwe – Pioneer Black Businessman in the Cape Colony". The Coelacanth. 31 (2): 44-51. ISSN 0530-0231. OCLC 5878549875.
I'm currently working on Paul Xiniwe, and one of the references on the page cites this journal. I'm hoping that the full article will have more information on Xiniwe and his life that I can use in the article.
There's a couple journals named "The Coelacanth", but from context I'm assuming it's this one from Rhodes University in South Africa. Their online archives only have 3 issues, none of which are the one with Webb's article.
Does anyone know where I can find this article? I've tried looking in TWL, but it doesn't seem to have this particular journal (unless I'm missing something, as searching for "The Coelacanth" mostly brings up articles about the fish).
Thanks in advance. Tymewalk (talk) 02:34, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

These two for King Lindworm and The Girl with Two Husbands. "O re serpente" is a Griko tale, which, per Renato Aprile's summary in his Index, has the same double narrative of the Greek tales: heroine marries snake prince and disenchants him, revives dead man and marries him, chooses between first and second husbands.
