An apology
By the way, I apologize for assuming bad faith at your MfD for No Nazis. I hadn't seen your final response to me until just now (looking for the link where I'd assumed bad faith) and I have to say that your response was warranted. I was being glib and unfriendly. Having dealt with a mountain of trolls is no excuse. You clearly have a lot to offer the encyclopedia and I hope you continue to play an active role –– even if (or rather especially because) we don't always agree. A "News media in Madagascar" article
Howdy! So a little bit ago I started a draft about Malagasy news - User:Generalissima/News media in Madagascar - and while I was able to find good information about history, I've struggled to find good sources about contemporary situation. Since you have a lot of experience with writing about Madagascar-related topics, I thought I might consult your help. I think there might very well be sources I just wasn't able to find here, and I think there might be a number that are simply in French or Malagasy. Thank you very much for your time and your good work on-wiki! Generalissima (talk) (it/she) 17:30, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Generalissima I’m so flattered to be asked! Your draft is excellent—thank you for writing this! I’ll take a look and see what I can find. Zanahary (talk) 17:35, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Zanahary: Hi! I just wanted to check if this was still something you wanted to work on together :) Generalissima (talk) (it/she) 20:40, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- Salut Generalissima! I loaded the Talk page with sources last month—I'm currently in the process of moving, but when I free up again I'd be happy to work on adding prose to the article. ꧁Zanahary꧂ 22:04, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

- I am! Check out Ibonia (especially the How to Read a Folktale source), the "Malagasy Secret" section of Jews in Madagascar and Hainteny.
- It’s (I think) an unusually complex society in terms of richness of beliefs, oral mythology, ritual practice and the assignment of ritual roles in everyday life. Maybe the origin myths recounted on Savika will interest you too. Zanahary (talk) 17:34, 8 June 2024 (UTC)
- thank you, I'm just amazed by how much depth they have, the traditions of the Ghana Empire are thought to have content from prehistory although much has been lost, I try to also talk about the oral traditions when writing African history Alexanderkowal (talk) 18:30, 8 June 2024 (UTC)

- @Kowal2701 I believe they were brought by Bantus—I remember reading something when researching for Savika about it. But if there seems to be a variety of theories, without an apparent best source giving a definitive one (or if it’s not clear that it’s a development in scholarship, e.g. the Tamil theory isn’t presented in newer sources), then you should describe the various theories. ꧁Zanahary꧂ 16:40, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

Are you able to comment on Talk:Lakana#Complete work of fiction? It may be that this is an article that should be put up for deletion, so if that is wrong, I really need to find other editors who will say so. Also, if there are RSs out there for an article on the traditional watercraft of Madagascar (I don't seem to be able to find any), I think that would be an interesting article.
Not a problem if this is not one for you, but thanks if you can help. ThoughtIdRetired TIR 21:26, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

Dear zamahary, I see you removed my edits regarding this article. After I initially translated dahalo as bandit, i removed some of its mentions as it seemed unneccesary to mention both lawlessness/bandits and dahalo. However, with the additional cattle-rustling dimension I can see how its of additional value to mention dahalo. The other edits i were quite constructive, would you consider adding those? Question from Dave1964g (09:33, 1 May 2025)
Hello, I have a lot of PDF's regarding Witney Rugby Club History (60 years) as written by Dave (Dabber) Willis, a long standing club member. I wanted to take these and create a Wikipedia page with the content. He created a physical book with his content and so I cannot really reference it. Some of the book was written by me and I have referenced that content on the Club website. --Dave1964g (talk) 09:33, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Dave1964g, wow, that’s fascinating! That source may be somewhat problematic, as it is not independent and, I am guessing, self-published and/or primary. This doesn’t disqualify the source, but it comes with caveats, which you can read about if you click on the hyperlinked words in this comment.
- I can say quite definitely that the source is not enough to establish the club’s notability. Spots clubs must meet Wikipedia’s general notability guideline, which means it needs to have demonstrated notability through significant coverage in reliable secondary sources. You should search for those to cite in writing your article.
- I know linking so many policies and guidelines may be overwhelming, so in short: that sounds really cool; you’ll can probably use Willis’s source; you’ll need some reliable sources that show this club to be notable enough for its own article. Try posting a comment at WikiProject Sports for more guidance from editors experienced in writing about this subject! ꧁Zanahary꧂ 23:53, 1 May 2025 (UTC)

Question from EggtoothLost (16:46, 25 August 2025)
Hello Zanahary, I know that I am still learning Wikipedia and how its page editor works, but I do have a question that is more advanced. How does a new page get created? Specifically, I see that this page -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environmental_dumping -- as it currently exists confuses environmental dumping (chemicals and waste) with another form of dumping "environmental product dumping." Both are harmful to the environment, but the latter is when consumer products that are harmful to the environment are sold at very cheap prices in developing countries as a way to maximize profits from old technology. The products in question are usually used heavy equipment, used and new HVAC equipment, used automobiles, etc. I think there should be a separate page for "Environmentally harmful product dumping" (or similar title) that links from the environmental dumping page. Thank you! --EggtoothLost (talk) 16:46, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
- https://scholarship.law.duke.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1356&context=delpf this page discusses the legal aspects of it, so you can see this is not a new thing. Thank you. EggtoothLost (talk) 16:48, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @EggtoothLost! I don't think I see anywhere in the source you link that there's a practice known as "dumping" wherein environmentally harmful products are sold from richer countries to more developing ones. If you do find sources about this though, you can make a new article here. Thanks for contributing! ꧁Zanahary꧂ 18:51, 25 August 2025 (UTC)

Question from Truitacreilles (14:13, 10 October 2025)
Dear Zanahary, I have a question related to editing. I have been suggested to review a page that has been detected to not be impartial on its writing. The page in question is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexagonal_fast_Fourier_transform, which mentions names and the history of the development for the method. After further scrutiny, one of the writers of this articles is one of the developers of this mathematical method, mentioned inside the article. This questions the impartiality of the writing, should the mentions of anyone be removed inside the article or should it be kept? It is not clear to me from the automatic review suggestions.
Thank you in advance. --Truitacreilles (talk) 14:13, 10 October 2025 (UTC)

DYK for No Toilet, No Bride
On 21 November 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article No Toilet, No Bride, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the "No Toilet, No Bride" campaign encouraged women's families to demand a toilet as a precondition for marriage? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/No Toilet, No Bride. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, No Toilet, No Bride), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

Question from Theman23492 (11:17, 22 November 2025)
Hello, could I ask about acronym usage? Eg: BTX stands for Balanced Technology eXtended, but should I include the capitals? Also, are the paragraphed extensions of acronyms(Eg: BTX(Balanced Technology eXtended))required, or is that not a stated rule in Wikipedia?--Theman23492 (talk) 11:17, 22 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from Stop culprits (09:59, 25 November 2025)
Hi Zanahary, thanks for being my mentor here. As I am new here and look like already started controversy. As I was trying to add the legal matter but other editors keep deleting. Even I was happy to discuss on talk page. But they keep deleting so not sure what I am doing wrong here. Please see if you can help me to understand. Why I can’t add legal matter to live person while clearly mentioning case is under investigation and followed all wiki’s policies. --Stop culprits (talk) 09:59, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Stop culprits, per WP:BLPRESTORE, material removed on BLP concerns (as this material was) cannot be restored without positive consensus to include it. Your dispute relates to the “caution” advised by BLPCRIME, which is deliberately subjective. It’s up to you to convince others that BLPCRIME would be followed if your desired content were restored. ꧁Zanahary꧂ 10:10, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- Other person / editor wasn't even happy to re write on the talk page. It was clearly look like favouring to the profile. So there is no one can be middle man between two editors? Because I was adding legal part and was following all rules so still I am confused where I was wrong ? Stop culprits (talk) 10:25, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
- There definitely can be more parties! Try posting at WP:3O and/or WP:BLPN (but if you’re going to post at both noticeboards, I’d advise you to just post them at both noticeboards now, lest you be accused of forum-shopping after the fact). ꧁Zanahary꧂ 10:30, 25 November 2025 (UTC)

Question from Canthelpbeinghuman (03:34, 1 December 2025)
Hello! How do I request a page for a musical artist? --Canthelpbeinghuman (talk) 03:34, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Canthelpbeinghuman! If the artist in question meets the criteria at WP:NMUSICIAN, you can request an article at WP:Article requests, but that’s a slow process with a long backlog. The best way to get that article written is to write it yourself! See WP:My first article for information on how to do it. ꧁Zanahary꧂ 04:52, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
Hi, this page title is the informal name for this company. The official name is "Smyths Toys Superstores" or "Smyths Toys". The nickname is "Smyths". Is it possible to edit the page display name to reflect this? Something like "Smyths Toys Superstores ("Smyths")" would be best. --Ssusmyth (talk) 16:28, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Ssusmyth, I’ve gone ahead and changed it to Smyths Toys, given that that appears to be the most commonly-used name for it in secondary sources. I hope this satisfies you! If someone reverts this (as would be their right, since I made this change unilaterally), or you wish to change the title to “Smyths Toys Superstores”, you are welcome to use the WP:RM process to get consensus for a further change in title. Just make sure to disclose any conflict of interest first! Have a nice day. ꧁Zanahary꧂ 16:50, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
Question from Nimagrs (08:32, 2 December 2025)
Hello! I’m interested in learning how to properly create new articles on Wikipedia about the history of Iranian architecture, notable architectural landmarks, and influential Iranian architects and historical figures. Could you please guide me on the best practices for sourcing references, establishing notability, and formatting new articles? I would really appreciate your mentorship. Thank you! --Nimagrs (talk) 08:32, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Nimagrs, that sounds great! I would advise you to make your first article about something small and easy to complete—maybe a single architect, building, or movement described at Iranian architecture that doesn’t yet have an article. For finding sources, I find that Google Scholar is a really excellent source. You can draw from English-language, Turkish-language, and Persian-language (and other) sources. For notability, see WP:GNG, WP:NBUILDING and WP:NARCHITECT as the probably most relevant policies. And for formatting and style, see WP:MOS and WP:Your first article. It’s recommended that your first article be submitted through the WP:AFC process, so that you can get coaching and feedback before it goes live. ꧁Zanahary꧂ 09:25, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your guidance! Based on your suggestion, I would like to start my first new article about a specific structure within Iranian architecture, likely focusing on a sub-component of Persepolis such as the Apadana Palace or the Gate of All Nations. I will begin gathering reliable sources (including academic ones via Google Scholar) and will prepare the article in a draft through the AFC process as you recommended. If I have questions along the way, I hope I can reach out to you for advice. Thanks again for your support! Nimagrs (talk) 09:41, 2 December 2025 (UTC)

- Hi Jeremy! First, you should ensure that your company meets Wikiepdia’s notability guideline for companies and organizations—most do not. Then, check out the policy at WP:COI for authors with conflicts of interest, such as yourself. If you do write an article, you should submit it via the WP:AFC process. Question from Karl Shuman (14:06, 10 January 2026)
Hi Zanahary! Hope this message finds you well! I just recently got an account with hopes of publishing an artist biography for myself. I’ve been a professional musician for about 25 years. In 2010, I moved to Stockholm Sweden with intentions of retiring from this line of work and begin a new career. Well, didn’t quite happen!😅 I was offered a job working with autistic adults with music. Song writing, recording, theater, chorus, videos, etc. Needless to say it has been an incredible and rewarding journey and it gave me the “fire” to start writing again. So in 2020, I built a studio in my apartment in Stockholm and now working on my 6th studio. In addition, I flew home this past October to do my first live performance at the university where my career began in 1992, to make the night truly authentic, I brought back my original band mates. We hadn’t played with the same line up in 25 years. Much to my delight, the show sold out, the band played as if we never stopped playing and actually sounded the best we ever had. The crowd was impressed, so much things started to happen again. Social media pages I created in Sweden lit up. This social media blitz was something I never experienced because we didn’t have social media during my time performing. My Facebook, suddenly hit 65,000 views and they began paying me, my YouTube that I created to put up all my music throughout my career, so fans could get the music for free. Within days after the show, my Channel went from 10 hits a week to 2500 hits, and continues to do very well. Friday I had 400 hits in 24 hours which is mind blowing to me and it’s now my plan to continue on as long as I can. Then it was suggested to me that I put out a Wikipedia page for myself which I thought was a great idea , so I created an account. Once that was finished I searched through info on the site, but the problem I’m having, or perhaps I’m confused, is the information uses the term Edit. Out of space!😀 --Karl Shuman (talk) 14:06, 10 January 2026 (UTC) Cont. I’m not wanting to “edit” others publications, but creat my own page and get the help from others to make my page look great! I can’t find or just don’t where I should begin! I see everywhere to start my editing, but can’t find the area on the site that will help me get started to write the biography. Zanahary, I will be the first to admit that I’m a technological idiot! So I saw that they had assigned me a mentor which I couldn’t be more thankful for, and that mentor is you! Any help you can assist me with in getting started would be so very appreciated! Thanks so much for your time Zanahary! Warm regards, Karl Shuman --Karl Shuman (talk) 14:16, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Karl! Your work sounds great, and I am glad you're pulling crowds!Wikipedia strongly discourages autobiographies, but they're not disallowed.First, read our notability guidelines for musicians. They're quite strict. If you don't have considerable coverage of yourself as amusician in reliable secondary sources, you won't be eligible for coverage on Wikipedia. If you believe you meet them, you should assemble reliable secondary sources on yourself, and prepare a draft article according to the guidance at WP:COI. You should submit the draft via the Articles for Creation process, should you choose to write your article. ꧁Zanahary꧂ 15:28, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
Mentor!
Thanks to your guidance, I was able to create my first page on Wikipedia. I feel extremely overwhelmed. It took me more than two hours to do independent research and fixing my grammar. You may see the new page if you want to. Nevermind. It was taken down. Unbreakablerodent (talk) 19:56, 19 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Unbreakablerodent, your article was moved to Draft:All Bodo Students' Union, because a patroller saw it as not yet ready for mainspace. You can work on it there and submit it when finished through the WP:AFC process. ꧁Zanahary꧂ 14:49, 14 February 2026 (UTC)

How do i create an article thats original and not like copied off of someone without knowing? I just want to be a little carefull and not steal ig. Is there a notification or something? --Eminem415 (talk) 10:51, 8 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Eminem415—what do you mean by a notification?See WP:CLOP for our relevant policy. Basically, just write in your own words. The actual ideas in your writing shouldn't be original, because this is a place to repeat what other sources have already said. Just make sure in your summaries and descriptions of those sources, you aren't copying exact language and violating copyrights. ꧁Zanahary꧂ 14:47, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
Question from Namit-seth (12:27, 13 February 2026)
i am new to editing in wikipedia. it keeps suggesting tone change edit how can i diffrentiate promotional material from factual material? --Namit-seth (talk) 12:27, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Namit-seth, good question. You can read our policy on promotional language to guide your editing, or you can ignore these suggested edits if they seem confusing to you and instead just edit confidently whenever you see something that could be improved. ꧁Zanahary꧂ 14:45, 14 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Jess "BiG Jess " Willard (00:37, 20 February 2026)
hello! This is my first time putting information on her. Some one else has me as Big Jessie Willard all over this site. I really appreciate it but for one my name is Jess not Jessie. I would like to consolidate the information and start updating my own page. --Jess "BiG Jess " Willard (talk) 00:37, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Jess "BiG Jess " Willard! To make sure we're talking about the same thing: you're a hip-hop producer, and you want credits to your name on Wikipedia to be changed from "Big Jessie" Willard to something else? I took a look at the liner notes for The Comrads and see that you're credited there as Big Jess for your production, and as Jess Willard for your engineering. So, it seems like you're right to want that fixed, and you can go ahead and edit each page that mentions the wrong name for you and fix it—you just press the "edit" button (it's a pencil icon on mobile) and write the correct name. For convenience: those articles are: Made in America (Kam album), The Villain in Black, The Comrads (album), and Da Hood (album). You can go ahead and edit those to correct your name.To make your own page, you need to know: first, Wikipedia discourages people from writing their own biographies, as everyone has a conflict of interest when writing about themselves. But, it's allowed as long as you follow policy. Check out our notability guidelines for musicians to make sure you're eligible for a page. You may also qualify for the notability guideline for composers and lyricists, which are less strict. If you're eligible for an article, you can follow the guidance WP:1ST to begin working on it. ꧁Zanahary꧂ 14:02, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
