Technical news

  • Starting on November 4, the IP addresses of logged-out editors are no longer being publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account associated with their edits.
  • Administrators will now find that Special:MergeHistory is now significantly more flexible about what it can merge. It can now merge sections taken from the middle of the history of the source (rather than only the start) and insert revisions anywhere in the history of the destination page (rather than only the start). Administrator Elections - Voting Phase

The voting phase of the December 2025 administrator elections has started and will continue until Dec 15 at 23:59 UTC. You can participate in the voting phase at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/December 2025/Voting phase.

As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • Dec 9–15 - SecurePoll voting phase
  • Scrutineering phase

In the voting phase, the candidate subpages close to public questions and discussion, and everyone who qualifies to vote has a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's vote total during the election. The suffrage requirements are similar to those at RFA.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for a few days, perhaps longer. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (this is a good page to watchlist), and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a non-recall candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and a minimum of 20 support votes. Recall candidates must achieve 55.0% support. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

I have a question about the cast list for The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants. In the end credits of the film, there are four cast members that are listed together on a single screen, George Lopez, Ice Spice, Arturo Castro, and Sherry Cola. Do they have to be listed in the billing block itself, even if they don't have a singular page dedicated to them like the SpongeBob actors, Regina Hall, or Mark Hamill? SomeAnotherCastaway (talk) 17:44, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox film says: As a starting point, use the WP:PRIMARY source of the billing block of the poster for the film's original theatrical release as a rule of thumb for listing starring actors. If unavailable, use the top-billed actors from the screen credits. An alternative approach may be determined by local consensus and with WP:SECONDARY sources. Use either the {{{plainlist}}} or {{{ubl}}} template for multiple entries, and link each actor to their article if possible. Don't add additional text (such as "with" or "featuring") or punctuation to the list. Mike Allen 01:23, 20 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Top billed actors have their own page, right? they don't share it with other actors? SomeAnotherCastaway (talk) 01:29, 20 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That’s usually how I see it done. Mike Allen 08:58, 20 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, cause Magitroopa keeps adding the four actors back in the article billing block, believing that single screen billing does not mean only listed by themselves, which Lopez, Spice, Castro, and Cola are not. SomeAnotherCastaway (talk) 16:20, 20 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
But I think they're wrong. SomeAnotherCastaway (talk) 19:06, 20 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This is what they said:
"It should also be noted that 'single screen billing' does not explicitly mean 'if one actor is shown by itself versus with other actors'- as shown by the images above, the screen listing Lopez, Ice Spice, Castro, and Cola is itself a single screen prior to the end credits. All of those names are the single-screen billing prior to the full cast credits, so it would be accurate to include them in it as well." SomeAnotherCastaway (talk) 06:01, 22 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I don’t they are gonna budge. They obviously don’t edit many film pages. Mike Allen 18:13, 22 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So, what do I do? Because we both know they're wrong. The users are Multiplivision and Magitroopa SomeAnotherCastaway (talk) 18:19, 22 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You either haven't fully read the discussion at Talk:The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants#Cast credits, or don't care about what was said there- as MikeAllen pointed out regarding Template:Infobox film: "As a starting point, use the WP:PRIMARY source of the billing block of the poster for the film's original theatrical release as a rule of thumb for listing starring actors. If unavailable, use the top-billed actors from the screen credits."
As was mentioned there, that you have failed to mention here, is that Lopez, Ice Spice, Castro, and Cola come before the full cast list, and even in the single screen billing portion prior to the full cast list, are listed before Regina Hall and Mark Hamill as well. The film's credits itself would serve as the WP:PRIMARY source. As was also mentioned there, this same billing block is also supported by the billing listed on the film's official website.
If you are going to attempt to go asking other users for their opinion, I would suggest you either give the full explanation or link to the talk page discussion for them to read themselves rather than give your single/opinionated side of the story. As I have also previously warned you, I would suggest you stop edit warring at the article as well, even if you believe you are right. At this point, you are way past three reverts, and it does not help you one bit. Thank you. Magitroopa (talk) 18:46, 22 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't matter if they came before Hall and Hamill. They are listed together, which means they shouldn't be listed at all in the infobox. If every actor that is listed together in one single screen were all credited in the infobox, it would be too cluttered. But, since it seems like you're never gonna learn that, I'll leave it be, so that you can remain happy, even though you're wrong. SomeAnotherCastaway (talk) 19:04, 22 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I know it's been a few days, but, ignoring Magitroopa's response, what should I do, if anything? Cause I haven't touched that article since. SomeAnotherCastaway (talk) 04:32, 27 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As mentioned in the latest warning on your talk page, continuing to edit war despite what others have discussed on the respective talk page and going with your own belief without consensus is not the way to go. Magitroopa (talk) 16:51, 29 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That was the last time. It won't happen again. However, you will ALWAYS be wrong. SomeAnotherCastaway (talk) 16:52, 29 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

You reverted the edits saying that the movie would be shown in Australia and New Zealand. No, there's no reliable source and there are guidelines, but people have said (and shown) that it would be showing in those countries. So why revert the edit anyway? I appreciate the effort, but you must tell me why you did this.

Thanks.

Jibblesnark86 (talk) 22:08, 7 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I did in my edit summary. Please read WP:BURDEN. You added content with no reliable source. "People have said" is not a reliable source. Mike Allen 00:24, 8 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

The only reason I put that is because I’ve seen some people do that before a voice actor is confirmed. That’s what happened before it was confirmed Keanu Reeves was voicing Shadow in Sonic 3. I apologize. Iacowriter (talk) 17:46, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
