List of NZ Banks
Thankyou for your feedback @Duncnbiscuit] wrt https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_banks_in_New_Zealand#List_of_Banksc "This list article is aimed to be simple list of banks operating in NZ. The information added about banks' rainbow tick status would find a better home on an article about Rainbow Tick certification or as a section of a none list article about banking" content now on new page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Rainbow_Tick MarkD1234 (talk) 22:03, 6 May 2024 (NZDT)

Whenuapai edit
At Whenuapai you added 'The works included reconstruction of the main runway and taxiways, improvements to stormwater drainage, and installation of new airfield lighting.', which is closely paraphrased from the source: 'The main runway and taxiways will be upgraded, stormwater drainage improved and new airfield lighting will be installed.' In that paragraph you mentioned 'RNZAF Base Whenuapai', but RNZAF Base Whenupai doesn't exist, its RNZAF Base Auckland and RNZAF Station Whenuapai.
You added a citation to the paragraph from the National Business Review <ref name="NBR2011">{{cite news |title=Whenuapai air base gets $24m upgrade |url=https://www.nbr.co.nz/article/whenuapai-air-base-gets-24m-upgrade-ck-88759 |work=National Business Review |date=22 January 2011 |access-date=11 December 2025}}</ref> but despite supposedly accessing the article today the URL does not work and no article from any news organisation exists under that specific title. There is this article [1] with a similar title, although the date is different.
You added a citation <ref name="HeritageNZ">{{cite web |title=RNZAF Station Hobsonville |url=https://www.heritage.org.nz/the-list/details/9057 |website=Heritage New Zealand |access-date=11 December 2025}}</ref but this url does not, there is no Heritage New Zealand listing with ID 9057 (https://www.heritage.org.nz/list-details/9057/9057) and the title of the entry is 'RNZAF Station Hobsonville', but Heritage New Zealand has no entry for the RNZAF Station (there isn't exactly anything to register here given the base has been heavily redeveloped). and another citation contains a broken URL <ref name="NZDF">{{cite web |title=RNZAF Base Auckland |url=https://www.nzdf.mil.nz/nzdf/our-services/air-force/our-bases/rnzaf-base-auckland/ |website=New Zealand Defence Force |access-date=11 December 2025}}</ref>
You wrote 'The investment programme ensured that RNZAF Base Auckland would remain at Whenuapai', but where else would RNZAF Base Auckland move to?
You wrote that investment was 'supporting the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s maritime patrol and airlift capabilities at its present location' but the maritime patrol operations are based at Ohakea, not Whenuapai. The citation you added for this claim <ref name="RNZ2011">{{cite news |title=Whenuapai upgrade secures RNZAF future |url=https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/66993/whenuapai-upgrade-secures-rnzaf-future |work=Radio New Zealand |date=22 January 2011 |access-date=11 December 2025}}</ref> has a working URL but it leads to a story about tennis, there is no article with that title either. Although RNZ does have an article about it entitled 'Whenuapai airfield to get $24m upgrade' [2]
Can you explain how these errors occurred? Traumnovelle (talk) 09:56, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- Thats me being hals asleep making the edits and not checking everything. before publishing, I will slap my wrist Duncnbiscuit (talk) 02:19, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- Did you use an LLM to generate parts of the edit? Traumnovelle (talk) 06:12, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Traumnovelle of course but I have a normal practice of fact checking everything suggested, which in this case I let slip. I get wound up by Wikipedians that are totally opposed to LLM use but its very valid that LLM output needs checking very carefully before publishing in an article, particularly hallucinated citations like my edit here. Duncnbiscuit (talk) 07:47, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
- The close paraphrasing is an issue outside of the factual and citation errors, the multiple errors in the edit sort of demonstrate the issues with LLMs, I'd really recommend just writing with your own words, I know you are capable of writing without an LLM so why risk the factual errors and copyright issues? Template:talkheader
Please don't add this template to pages which never had an issue with the talk page being used as a forum. It's a rather huge banner and pushes other information down for little to no benefit. There is also no reason to add blank lines beneath it, it takes up even more space like that. Fram (talk) 09:08, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Fram the talk header is useful for new editors and as a convenient starting point for editorial tasks like searching for sources and archiving talk page topics. I hind it very helpful for both tasks.
- Are you aware that you can suppress the template or parts of it if you don't want to see its output. You just need to add a parameter to your Special:MyPage/common.css.
- Have a read of Template:Talk header Duncnbiscuit (talk) 00:28, 25 December 2025 (UTC)
- That page that says "This template should not be indiscriminately added to pre-existing talk pages"? Yes, I read it before posting here. Archiving talk pages which haven´t been used in ten years or so is not really convincing. Adding it to pages which already have it in place isn´t convincing either abd nicely illustrates banner blindness. No idea why you would do it like yiu did at Talk:Edington,_Wiltshire, the blank lines are just annoyingly needless. 07:26, 25 December 2025 (UTC) Fram (talk) 07:26, 25 December 2025 (UTC)
- I concur with Fram, please stop with this. Traumnovelle (talk) 08:11, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
