Merger proposal

I suggest incorporation of Nick Jr. (Indian TV channel) into Nickelodeon (Indian TV channel). The Nick Jr. article today is based upon one source ([1]) and, based on my own opinion, is not worthy in itself of inclusion as a stand-alone article per Wikipedia's guideline on notability WP:GNG, WP:NTV. I have searched for other sources which may offer useful coverage but am not finding anything which gives adequate, independent, meaningful coverage to the channel.

It does seem to be extensive overlap of content between the two articles, specifically with regard to target audience and overall Viacom18 brand. Details pertaining to Nick Jr. would better be placed within the context of the main article for Nickelodeon (Indian TV channel). My recommendation would be to insert any applicable, sourced content from the Nick Jr. article within the "Sister channels" section of the Nickelodeon (Indian TV channel) article. I invite comments from other editors on this proposal. Let me know your comments and any other sources you know of. UNITED BLASTERS (talk) 06:57, 22 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I respectfully disagree because these are separate channels, aimed at separate audiences and with separate programming. Since no one has chimed in during the last year, i'm going to go ahead and remove the merge tag on both pages in order to clear them out of the backlog. @Oona Wikiwalker: This was posted two days ago, so I'm undoing your removal of the merge tags. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 03:17, 24 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Because the person who originally added the tag mistyped the year, it was in the wrong category in the backlog. Reverting my edit was fine, but if you saw the error, why didn't you fix it so the next person wouldn't repeat it? Oona Wikiwalker (talk) 09:04, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for finding it and corrected UNITED BLASTERS (talk) 12:25, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, get more sources in the Nick Jr. India Article, thy sockpuppet @ UNITED BLASTERS and very bad user @TruxtVerified Surreal1x1 (talk) 18:21, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Salvio giuliano, Kusma, Stifle or Pppery, can either of you please close this merge proposal section? It was started by a sockpuppet as an editor has stated/cited above. Thanks!! Intrisit (talk) 19:04, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Intrisit I went ahead and did this. There was no other comment of note in the last few months. I do think there's possibly an argument for merging up to Nick Jr. because this is a very flimsy article indeed, but that's another discussion. I'm even working on a dedicated Nick Jr. (international) article so as to move the contents in here over there. We have such articles with the "(international)" disambiguator already; Fox (international), FX (international), Syfy (international), Disney Jr. (international), Disney XD (international) and Paramount Network (international) and from what I see they are doing the job. Okay, there isn't any Fox Sports (international) article, but there is Fox Sports International, which I merged the contents of stub article Fox Sports (Middle Eastern TV channel) into. In fact, as we have DAB pages for these titles, so should we have "(international)" DABbed articles as well, which will be ready by December 31 this year! If this doesn't happen by then, I'll remove this comment/statement! Intrisit (talk) 19:50, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Intrisit I'd recommend natural titling, such as International versions of Nick Jr. It'll be good as a deliberate size/scope split of the main articles on the US channels. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 22:45, 27 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It'll read like a sentence if titled this way; after all, related or unrelated, like the titles mentioned, it's still and just an overview of the international versions or variants of the channel or network. The titles in their present state may only seem confusing to readers and editors, existing or new, until they are opened for sight and later realization. Take me for instance at the beginning of my editing journey here, my first thought of seeing the "FX (international)" title (created via this diff with literally the "(international)" disambiguator from the get-go) and the "Fox (international)" title. The latter arose per this revision) from a move from Fox (channel) (which I nominated at RfD and was decided that it be an SIA title). I also agree with the natural title, but a spoken, chatter, "un-concrete" WP rule here calls for a preference for simpler titles which are similar and can do the job. Intrisit (talk) 16:04, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Intrisit It's just below WP:NC() in the article titles policy: Descriptive title: Where there is no acceptable set name for a topic, such that a title of our own conception is necessary, more latitude is allowed to form descriptive and unique titles. This is something I'd take to Wikipedia talk:Article titles. I suspect they'd favor something like my proposal. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 17:44, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure why I've been tagged. Stifle (talk) 07:56, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to reply to you at this time; I was having trouble accessing my account. I tagged you because you're an admin, like your colleagues I also tagged, with automatic XFDcloser script, which I'm asking of you to please close this merge proposal section? It was started by a sockpuppet of TruxtVerified, United Blasters. Read through this whole section for proof. Intrisit (talk) 16:40, 1 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
