Talk:2025 South Korea wildfires

Units

Is South Korea an acre county or hectare? Because the table is written in acre while the Korean press uses ha. Borgenland (talk) 16:06, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it really uses either. I think it uses km2 even for scenarios where other countries would use ha. I think if anything it'd use ha though. seefooddiet (talk) 04:24, 31 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
A bit moot but I've begun using ha based on the Korean papers. Borgenland (talk) 04:25, 31 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The more important point is: is it 490 ha or 48000 as reported in
https://www.worldweatherattribution.org/climate-change-made-weather-conditions-leading-to-deadly-south-korean-wildfires-about-twice-as-likely/
other reports from the time of the incedent mention much higher numbers
Korea Herals 24.3.25 https://www.koreaherald.com/article/10448764
Guardian 27.3.25 36000 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/mar/27/south-korea-fires-death-toll-rises-worst-in-history
It would seem to me that 490 ha as reported in the current wikipedia article is not correct.
I hope someone can resolve this. Chris19Savage (talk) 16:54, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
