Hi Roc0ast3r, thanks for your work on this article. I will review it and should have some comments posted shortly. Zzz plant (talk) 14:18, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply] Thanks for your fast responses! All my prose comments have been resolved, I think the new addition to lede + small rephrase in body all work nicely. The only thing of note is that there isn't an image, but fwiw I looked around and couldn't find a suitably licensed one. I assume you did too, and if there isn't one available that's not a barrier to GA. The only new thing I noticed was the findagrave link at the bottom - I've seen these get challenged or removed through WP:FINDAGRAVE-EL but I also know it's not a hard rule, do you think there's a particular value to it in this case? Best, Zzz plant (talk) 01:56, 15 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Zzz plant: Thank you for your review! I had to tend to personal matters while editing, so I did cut it off a bit early, but I was able to find what I believe to be a public domain image of Tjeerdsma, which I have gone ahead and added. I actually wasn't aware of the Find a Grave rule, but since the Find a Grave profile includes an image of his grave (admittedly, not the greatest, but still an image nonetheless), I think it should stay. I wouldn't try to fight it however if someone removed the link. RONIN TALK03:10, 15 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, thanks for adding the image, I've updated the notes/progress box accordingly. I don't know that the grave photo adds anything particular to the story here, as it looks like a pretty typical headstone, but I don't think there's any categorical reason it must be deleted since there's no copyvio in the findagrave profile. The only remaining suggestion I have is to add archive links - optional but encouraged to prevent link rot, and I believe can be automated by queuing up an IAbot run. Since the article meets all the GA criteria, will be passing this momentarily. Nice work! Zzz plant (talk) 03:41, 15 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if the lede could provide another sentence or two summarizing his legislative activities, since it makes up a pretty decent portion of the article body Zzz plant (talk) 14:41, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I expanded it by adding info about the corporate income tax bill, since the majority of the section about his tenure talks about that. RONIN TALK01:12, 15 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
"According to a 1976 biography published in The Daily Republic, Tjeerdsma taught at a rural school for three years and was a farmer for 22 years." does this need to be qualified with an "according to"? The Daily Republic seems like it would be a reliable source for these claims Zzz plant (talk) 14:41, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
"The tax money would be used to "replace revenue lost to local governments by an accompanying repeal of property taxes on cattle, sheep and hogs."" to me this material in quotes doesn't add a whole lot, I think it could be paraphrased Zzz plant (talk) 14:59, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
"In December 1975, Tjeerdsma and representatives Robert Lyons and Lyle Mensch sponsored a bill that would allow Charles Mix County to receive $56,800 in state funds to pay the expenses of prosecutions resulting from a takeover of a pork plant near Wagner on May 2; the takeover resulted in seven people being charged." - "to pay the expenses of prosecutions resulting from a takeover of a pork plant near Wagner on May 2" sounds a little awkward to me, suggest rephrasing Zzz plant (talk) 14:59, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
"Tjeerdsma was one of 20 legislators in January 1976 that co-sponsored a bill that would allow landowners in areas of Brown, Day, Marshall, Spink, and Sully counties to vote on future of the Oahe Irrigation Project." I think future needs a "the" in front of it Zzz plant (talk) 14:41, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
"On August 19, 1977, Tjeerdsma resigned from the South Dakota Senate; in his letter to Kneip, Tjeerdsma cited health issues." I think you could replace the second instance of "Tjeerdsma" with "he" since the subject is clear from context/sentence structure Zzz plant (talk) 14:41, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
appropriately and consistently formatted. my main (optional) suggestion is to add archive links for all the newspaper.com links. also, very tiny nitpick, but ref [5] (as of this revision appears to be the only newspapers.com source without the little open access symbol. short article that seems to cover everything it needs to. I looked around newspaper archives and didn't see anything else notable he did that isn't addressed here Zzz plant (talk) 14:59, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
no indication of edit-warring or content disputes on article history or talk page. uncontroversial/relatively niche biography unlikely to attract this kind of issue. Zzz plant (talk) 14:41, 14 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
