For American football, see WikiProject Deletion sorting/American football

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Football (soccer). It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Football|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Football (soccer). For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Sports.

Lexington SC - Louisville City Rivalry (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

Too much work done on this, doesn't qualify under WP:NRIVALRY, sources are routine coverage. We've deleted multiple types of these articles already. This is no different. Govvy (talk) 12:21, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Agree that the article is not notable and should be deleted. Hard to call something a "rivalry" if there's only ever been a single competitive match played. gingerlines (talk) 14:04, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
both teams refer to this as a rivalry, and you’ll likely never get more than routine coverage on these lower division rivalries. What’s the point of deleting this article just to have to remake it in 2-3 years? Snakshopp (talk) 14:38, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, every other of Louisville’s rivalries has a page— and the one with Lexington is the one they advertise the most. As a native of the area, both towns are flying the flags of the individual teams in the downtown area to hype up the game. Just because you aren’t familiar with the rivalry doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist Snakshopp (talk) 14:44, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
For rivalries to be notable they must recieve significant coverage. This rivalry does not, so it should be deleted. Esolo5002 (talk) 16:06, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think there's certainly value in keeping this in the draftspace until there's more coverage and a few more matches have been played between the clubs, but as it currently stands it does not satisfy the general notability guidelines required for a rivalry article. The point of remaking it in 2/3 years (or less) is that it will fit within the WP guidelines at that time. I'm confident that as the teams play one another there will be more reliable coverage that can establish notability, just not yet.
And as a former Lexington resident I personally couldn't be more excited for what I'm sure will be a robust rivalry between the teams in the future! But one competitive match and not a single reliable third-party source specifically discussing the 'rivalry' means we'll have to wait a little bit before it is notable. gingerlines (talk) 16:14, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot find any WP:SIGCOV of this player in any sources, much less independent, reliable, secondary ones. The only sources (in this article, in the 11 other-language wiki articles, and in WP:BEFORE searches) are stats pages, which is not enough for an WP:NSPORT pass. Non-notable footballer, basically without professional career. His U17 appearances are not enough to establish notability. At senior level, he played in only one match in a professional league, and then 28 matches in amateur tiers. He is 24 and has not played football since September 2021, so it can be assumed that his career ended before it actually began. FromCzech (talk) 12:08, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Played 5 times professionally, hasn't played professionally since, fails GNG RossEvans19 (talk) 14:45, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

We've been discussing RossEvans19's noms of Japanese players at Wikipedia:Village pump (idea lab) recently. I've
The first thing I notice when looking at this BLP is that w:ja:原直生 is noticeably longer, cites six sources, and says that he's played 17 games for FC Tiamo Hirakata in addition the 5 for Shonan Bellmare.
Several of these cited sources at the Japanese Wikipedia are links to pages in the website for Shonan Bellmare, which I believe means that they are non-independent. However, it also cites this news article: https://web.gekisaka.jp/news/jleaguecup/detail/?325297-325297-fl (which is a couple of paragraphs about the first professional game he played).
And that source in turn leads me to these:
Searching more generally:
Thinking about the team roster, we have pages such as 2022–23 FC Bayern Munich season#Players, and we have a 2018 Shonan Bellmare season#Squad, and we have Shonan Bellmare#Current squad. Why are here at AFD, trying to delete a basic (if outdated) article, instead of creating a 2022 Shonan Bellmare season and redirecting any truly non-notable players to that, or to a List of Shonan Bellmare players, to coordinate with the Category:Shonan Bellmare players? Or to 2023 Tiamo Hirakata season, since he seems to have played more for them? Or redirecting it to FC Tiamo Hirakata#Current squad, where his name is already listed?
As a practical matter, his name is already linked in these four pages:
and should be listed in these pages, if we ever get around to creating them:
and that, I think (in combination with the 100WORDS source) is probably a reason for us to just keep this article. I judge this as a case of borderline compliance with the GNG and a practical solution to providing information about an athlete who has played for two teams in three seasons.
BTW, since I don't read Japanese, it took me about an hour to sort through this one AFD. @RossEvans19, I see that you nominated almost 20 articles for deletion today, and that most of your nominations involve Japanese players. Did you search for Japanese-language sources? WhatamIdoing (talk) 22:09, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The first site you linked is a routine game recap that mentions him in passing. The stats profile page is obviously unusable for notability purposes. The other two Gekisaka links and the Ultra-Soccer link are routine transactional announcements that merely repeat the press releases + quotes. Transfer news like this is expected for every player, which is why no one brings it up at AfD. JoelleJay (talk) 23:10, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
News of any sort is accepted by the WP:GNG standard. Wikipedia:Notability#Events and Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) exclude "routine" news reports, but the GNG does not. If people are ignoring reliable sources merely because they're expected to exist, they're not applying the GNG. WhatamIdoing (talk) 23:32, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
WP:NOTNEWS is policy, so no, WP:N does not accept just any type of news. If you think an announcement that is mostly comprised of verbatim quotes is acceptable coverage then you need to reacquaint yourself with our P&Gs. JoelleJay (talk) 00:20, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The only sentence in NOTNEWS that could be relevant is For example, routine news coverage of announcements, events, sports, or celebrities, while sometimes useful, is not by itself a sufficient basis for inclusion of the subject of that coverage (see WP:ROUTINE for more on this with regard to routine events), which we have discussed elsewhere. It's not at all clear that an article talking about someone's education is "routine news coverage of announcements, events, sports, or celebrities". WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:31, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That source doesn't discuss his education at all! Where are you reading that?? And literally the only non-quote content in it is On the 20th, Shonan Bellmare announced that Shonan Bellmare U-18 defender Ishii Daisei and midfielder Hara Naoki will be promoted to the top team next season. Both players have been registered with the top team as second-category players since last season, and Hara played in four games in the Levain Cup this season. Which is trivial, routine announcement coverage. JoelleJay (talk) 19:49, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This source: https://web.ultra-soccer.jp/news/view?news_no=434674
Google Translate renders part of it thusly: "Hara is a product of Shonan's academy. He was registered as a second-class player while enrolled in the academy, and was officially promoted last season, but he ended up not playing, and will be looking for a new challenge this year. He said goodbye through Shonan. "I was able to grow thanks to Bellmare since my first year of high school, but I had a lot of worries last season, so I decided to transfer in order to grow even more. I will continue to do my best. Thank you."" WhatamIdoing (talk) 02:56, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please, can you leave me alone? I don't know why you've taken so against what I'm doing - I'm really not trying to offend or insult or hurt - I'm just trying to remove Wikipedia of poor articles. RossEvans19 (talk) 02:11, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
WP:Deletion is not cleanup. Editors (not any individual, but all of us) should not use AFD as a way "to remove poor articles". Poor articles should get improved with the [Edit] button.
The reason I asked you about language-specific searches is because it's especially difficult to determine whether a Japanese subject is notable if you can't read Japanese. I can't. I found some sources by checking a very small fraction of the reliable sources listed in List of newspapers in Japan. It's very slow work for me. Someone who could read Japanese would be able to do it much faster. If you have done that work, please tell us. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:35, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fails WP:SPORTCRIT. Really had no playing career and is only known as a football manager on the third and fourth tier in Russia. The Russian Second League might have been included in the old "professional league" list of WP:WPF. However it is very obvious that the Second League was not fully professional, consisting of 60 teams of varying strength. This would need multiple pieces of in-depth, secondary, independent coverage to pass the GNG bar. Geschichte (talk) 07:50, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

WP:SPORTCRIT Sports biographies must include at least one reference to a source providing significant coverage of the subject, excluding database sources. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 13:12, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nobody should use Football Database anymore per WP:WPFLINKSNO; there is a discussion regarding its deletion on Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2024 October 5#Template:FootballDatabase.eu. • I feel he's probably notable. The Arabic article notes that he "excelled" for his club and helped them win the top-tier Iraq championship and he "was among the best Iraqi goalkeepers of the 1980s," which is demonstrated by him being the team's goalkeeper at the Asian Games. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:19, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    • There's a story on him here – he later became goalkeepers coach for Al-Ramtha SC in Jordan. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:27, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
      • This is a forum but someone there notes "I read an article in one of the electronic newspapers by brother Ali Al-Hasnawi, in which he narrates the history of the [goalkeeper] – The distinguished Iraqi Samir Abdul Redha, the national team goalkeeper in the eighties, and his journey that led him To train Benfica goalkeepers and supervise great goalkeepers such as the German Anka. He worked with Mourinho and Camacho, and before that, the Portuguese coach Vingada described him as 'the best coach.'" It includes a long snippet from the story but it seems it might be Adul-Ridha talking rather than a sportswriter – it does say that it is only a portion of the story though. He seems likely notable to me. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:40, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
        • Keep. This blog post about Adbul-Ridha contains photos of in-depth newspaper stories about him. It seems he was well-covered in Portuguese for being the first Iraqi in Portuguese football; he was known under the name "Samir Shaker" there and I found another story on him here. In addition to the Kooora post I mentioned above and the 1995 Al Riyadi newspaper I showed, this should be sufficient to keep given the circumstances (very poor access to the sources of the time). He seems to have been a star Iraqi goalkeeper and among their most prominent goalkeepers in the 1980s. Given the popularity of football in Iraq, it is all but certain he would have been significantly covered in his day. @Svartner: BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:52, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure how exactly to format the reply, but I think it is notable due to extensive media coverage in the middle east, and a season article was created due to plans that this will be a biannual tournament to accompany the senior men's tournament. Exhibition matches and tournments have wikipedia articles if they are notable, such as Soccer Aid, Sidemen Charity Match, and 2025 NBA All-Star Game amongst many others Alitheboss55 (talk) 20:34, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This is a non-notable athlete who did not even complete his event at the Olympic Games in which he participated. He does not warrant a standalone article.--DesiMoore (talk) 16:03, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak Keep. In addition to the one source (although a little questionable on reliability), I found a book here talking about a specific marathon that Kalous was a top competitor in. The book mentions Kalous 24 times and also notes that the marathon was covered prominently in the Czech press: "Numerous dailies reported on the marathon – Moravská Orlice, Rovnost, Lidové noviny, and Venkov" – according to the book. I think its very likely that he's notable, especially given the Olympedia bio (which, for foreign athletes like this, they seem to usually only give if they were prominent). The issue is that no Czech newspapers were searched: if they were, I'm think its very likely we'd find significant coverage of him. BeanieFan11 (talk) 00:22, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand how this helps meet the WP:NATH and WP:NOLY criteria. The book contains a detailed description of a marathon without international participation, where he finished 3rd, so his name is often repeated, but it does not contribute to expanding his biography. FromCzech (talk) 07:41, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@FromCzech, NATH and NOLY are supplemental guidelines. What's important is WP:N, not NATH, NOLY, NSPORT, NXXXX, etc. If an article has sourcing, there's no need for it to meet a supplemental guideline. --Habst (talk) 13:33, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As WP:N says, significant coverage in reliable sources creates an assumption, not a guarantee, that a subject merits its own article. Currently, I think sigcov is insufficient or at least on the verge. But the point is that even if we consider them sufficient, they contain nothing that would support the athlete's notability. NATH and NOLY help us objectively determine this notability, and his placements (2nd and 3rd place) in marathons of regional importance do not even come close to that. Thanks, this is the discussion I think we should be having.
Keep in mind we have to apply a time-neutral standard, i.e. we can't favor articles just because they are more recent. The question I ask myself is, if you were someone who followed athletics news in Czechoslovakia in the 1920s, would you consider Emil Kalous notable? I would say yes, based on the sourcing we have about his accomplishments. I do think you are downplaying the importance of the Prague Marathon at the time, because I find the evidence "Numerous dailies reported on the marathon" to be convincing. --Habst (talk) 15:19, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
NSPORT isn't actually objective. It is just a skeletonized guideline of leftover stuff from before NSPORTS2022 that wasn't participation-based. NSPORT is overly strict right now since the participation criteria was removed. For example, saying stuff like "Were selected in the first two rounds of the NBA draft." isn't actually helpful for baseline notability (NBASKETBALL never gets cited at AfD because no one is nominating drafted NBA players for deletion). Every player in NBA history already has an article and was shown to pass GNG but it still wasn't good enough to have the participation criteria reinstated. There hasn't been any discussion on the merits of the leftover NSPORT guidelines. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 15:39, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If an Olympian meets GNG with SIGCOV, the Olympian should be notable, full stop (except for very rare circumstances like a borderline subject requesting deletion). Whether Kalous meets NATH or NOLY is irrelevant. Furthermore, I think it is significant that the book mentions that marathons were apparently reported on extensively in the Czech press from the time – remember, we haven't searched even a single Czech newspaper! The odds that there would be no further coverage if we looked in Czech newspaper archives is very, very slim I think. BeanieFan11 (talk) 16:26, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete and SALT - AFC Crewe has been deleted twice at AFD, this is clearly an attempt to bypass that - I'd also consider blocking the creator for disruption. GiantSnowman 13:51, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    • I’ll delete my own account if you can evidence any signs of my disruption.

I’ll reiterate what I said in a different discussion on the Nufan page; my creation of the nufan article was simply to prove that some admins have much higher influence over others and the nufan article being edited and accepted by the community until I referenced you guys into it does to at least a small extent prove this.

Regardless of your opinion of me or of AFC Crewe the organisation Nufan has had significant coverage. Irrelevant of what the football elite admins deem significant, two bbc cites, a German TV interview and the article in The Manc newspaper is more than enough for an organisation to be deemed notable.

So I suppose we will see how much influence a very few number of people have over the largest ‘community ran encyclopaedia’ In our history over the coming days.

      Regards Iblethebible (talk) 17:55, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

      • The Manc [28] mentions Nufan in one sentence, compare that with WP:GNG. The BBC radio refs mentions Nufan very little if at all, and consists of people connected to AFC Crewe talking about it. Such sources can have some WP:ABOUTSELF use, but they don't help the case for WP:N. I hope you'll be able to make an AFC Crewe article stick at some point, as I understand it they've done quite well, but this is not the way to go about it. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 22:37, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • The irony is almost tangible when I read a single-purpose account, putting this subject into a number of pages, saying how everyone else apart from that 1 person writing the single purpose all over Wikipedia is "a very few number of people" influencing Wikipedia. I'll take Gråbergs Gråa Sång's word for the BBC sources, since they aren't written sources. Checking out what The Manc is, it turns out to be a "social media publisher", which tallies with the source proffered being a bunch of Twitter posts. Other The Manc "news" turns out to be recitations of Twitter posts, too. So this is Twitter, Project:Reliable sources/Perennial sources#Twitter, regurgitated. The idea that if something is said on Twitter it must be true, does not make a source reliable. The best that I could find was something that was called the Nantwich News; but that turned out to state that it was a web log. I'd like to say that it could be considered reliable, but its offer of free press passes to whomever rocks up rather militated against the idea that its authors are skilled at fact checking. Uncle G (talk) 06:34, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Fwiw, the BBC refs are about 3 min each. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:29, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That’s three minutes of British Broadcasting Corporation coverage * 2. One of the most respected and notable news groups in the world. Iblethebible (talk) 21:46, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
But not about Nufan, correct? Fwiw, I mentioned length to indicate it won't take much effort to listen to them. 6 min is enough time to say a lot of interesting stuff. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 23:54, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh thankyou my mistake. Nufan is mentioned as the parent company of the club as is the structure etc. Iblethebible (talk) 12:43, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And of course the club its structure and nufan were spoken about in depth on the largest sports television channel in Germany: Pro Sieben. Iblethebible (talk) 12:50, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have made many edits on other pages and I'm trying to be a good contributor but sometimes it's hard when it feels like there is a lot of pushback. I have made edits on pages I can and I have created pages based on what I know about. I am really trying not to be a single purpose account. Iblethebible (talk) 12:44, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

As several other users stated, some of the sources indicate significant coverage for GNG. One user stating an opinion does not invalidate other users stating their opinion. Frank Anchor 15:06, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I really understand the criticism that there won't be an article dissecting the entire life of a second-tier Brazilian football player, but all the information pertinent to his sporting career is covered by the sources. I think it's a matter of WP:COMMONSENSE. Svartner (talk) 13:06, 19 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just because content is verifiable doesn't mean it warrants its own separate page. Basically nothing here goes beyond what you can find in a stats database. JoelleJay (talk) 19:24, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per references provided by Svatner and others. I reject JoelleJay’s characterization of ref 8 as shallow stats, not secondary analysis as it provides coverage of the subject’s career to that point, beyond simple stats. Some of the remaining sources can be pieced together to get this past the GNG finish line. Per WP:NBIO, if the depth of coverage in any given source is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability. Frank Anchor 15:05, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ref 8 says Fernando was signed by Caxias in November last year . Before that, he played for Figueirense, Grêmio Barueri, Criciúma, Moto Club, Luverdense, Deportivo Tepic, from Mexico, Itumbiara, Boa Esporte, Joinville, Brasil de Pelotas and Cascavel. This year, he played in 29 matches, 28 of which as a starter.
In the Gaucho runner-up position , he played in 12 matches. In the Série D, he played in 17 matches. In fact, the defender was the team captain at various times this season.

Literally nothing in there has any depth of coverage; it's all stats one could glean from his transfermarkt profile. Nothing whatsoever useful for a biography. JoelleJay (talk) 21:04, 15 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Frank Anchor is somehow correct. As long as the routine story provides more details about a specific than announcement, it can be used, but multiple sources containing significant coverage are required. ⋆。˚꒰ঌ Clara A. Djalim ໒꒱˚。⋆ 12:24, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I see several sentences with more-than-routine details of Fonseca's career. In addition, the requirement of multiple GNG-required sources can be circumvented by pieceing together information presented in other sources, as specifically allowed by WP:NBIO (see my comment above including relevant excerpt from that guideline). Frank Anchor 14:28, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
? Where is that in the guidelines? Merely having additional details does not make something automatically SIGCOV, especially if it's simple prosifying of stats. This also really isn't "more details" than you get in routine coverage of announcements (which is explicitly listed in NOTNEWS). JoelleJay (talk) 18:15, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You left out the rest of the sentence you quoted from NBIO: trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not usually sufficient to establish notability. None of the other independent sources offer more than passing mentions. JoelleJay (talk) 18:18, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I left that out because it is not relevant here. The info surrounding transfer announcements (which are NOT primary in most cases as they are derived from and are not exact copies of the press release), along with some coverage provided by Svartner add a few sentences here-and-there of non-trivial coverage which compliments Ref 8 which was called out above. Frank Anchor 17:20, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It is most certainly relevant here... WP:N says It is common for multiple newspapers or journals to publish the same story, sometimes with minor alterations or different headlines, but one story does not constitute multiple works. Several journals simultaneously publishing different articles does not always constitute multiple works, especially when the authors are relying on the same sources, and merely restating the same information. The info in the transfer announcements, in addition to being routine (For example, routine news coverage of announcements, events, sports, or celebrities, while sometimes useful, is not by itself a sufficient basis for inclusion of the subject of that coverage and Moreover, not all coverage in reliable sources constitutes evidence of notability for the purposes of article creation; for example [...] announcements columns [...] are all examples of coverage that may not actually support notability when examined, despite their existence as reliable sources), is coming directly from the press releases. What little there is about him that isn't in PR is trivial. JoelleJay (talk) 18:24, 18 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: Per JoelleJay. I can't find any SIGCOV in these sources. Passing mentions and stats table aren't SIGCOV. !Keep arguments aren't convincing at all. — Benison (Beni · talk) 15:14, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As there is no WP:SIGCOV if there are more than 15 sources dealing with the athlete's sporting career, several of which are from large Brazilian sports portals such as GloboEsporte ([33], [34]) and GauchaZH (Rio Grande do Sul) [35]. What else is needed here, finding out what the player's favorite dish? Svartner (talk) 17:03, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, passes GNG with sifniciant coverage.--Ortizesp (talk) 18:52, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - it is not enough to simply say this meets GNG with SIGCOV when the source analysis shows otherwise. As JoelleJay has shown, all the coverage is routine, being listings, routine announcements, etc, which are not significant coverage, becuase they provide nothing that demonstrates the player is notable beyon simply being a player. Press releases and anything from the club are not independent, and all the announcements are primary sources. GNG is met when we have significant coverage in reliable independent secondary sources. We don't have those. This does not pass GNG or ANYBIO. There should not be a page until it does. I'd consider a suitable redirect should anyone wish to propose one, but failing that, this is a clear delete. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 19:13, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Very weak keep - It appears that Fernando has more than the average profile for a Brazilian footballer competing at the top level of secondary state competitions (Gaúcho, Mineiro, Catarinense). He was a squad regular as Boa Esporte reached the 2019 Campeonato Mineiro semi-finals and Caxias reached the 2023 Campeonato Gaúcho final. Those are fairly significant club achievements, but he didn't appear to do much of note during the matches (e.g., [36] and [37]). I've searched for Portuguese-language coverage, and I couldn't find anything better than reference #7 (which as JoelleJay noted above doesn't have a lot of secondary coverage). That said, he goes by the name Fernando (sometimes Fernando Fonseca), so I'm not at all confident my searches captured everything that is out there. Based on his above-average achievements and the usefulness of reference #7, I think we have some reason to believe SIGCOV exists. Jogurney (talk) 21:01, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
