Orlane Kanor (born 16 June 1997) is a French handball player for Rapid București and the French national team.[1] She is a World champion from 2017[2] and 2023[3] and a European champion from 2018.[4]

Career

Kanor joined Metz Handball in 2015,[5] and became a part of the first team in the 2016-17 season.[6] With Metz she won the 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022 French championship, and the 2017, 2019 and 2022 French Cup.

In April 2021 she ruptured her Achilles.[7]

In 2022 she joined Romanian side Rapid București,[8] where she played for two years. She then joined Hungarian Ferencvárosi TC.[9]

She has one of the best jumping skills in international handball.[10]

National team

Kanor debuted for the French national team on 15 June 2017. later the same year she won the 2017 World Championship with France.[2] In 2018 she won the 2018 European Championship, beating Russia in the final 24-21. This was the first time France won the European Championship.[4]

At the 2020 European Championship she won a silver medal.[11] She scored 11 goals during the tournament.[12] The year after she won another silver medal at the 2021 World Championship, losing to Norway in the final.[13]

In 2023 she won the 2023 World Championship.[3]

At the 2024 Olympics she won silver medals with the French team.[14]

Personal life

She has an identical twin sister named Laura Kanor who is a handballer for Metz Handball.[10]
