Kateřina Hlavsová is a Czech military pilot known for being the first female jet aircraft pilot in modern Czech history. She has played a significant role in breaking gender barriers in military aviation and continues to serve in the Czech Air Force.^[1]

Hlavsová graduated from the Military Academy in Brno in 2006 and was subsequently assigned as a pilot to the 22nd Air Force Base with the rank of Second Lieutenant. Hlavsová's aviation career began with glider training at an aeroclub. To prepare for a career in aviation, she changed schools to focus on mathematics, physics, and English. Despite this, she successfully proved her capabilities and became a respected figure in the Czech Air Force. Hlavsová has accumulated over 50 hours of flight time on the L-39 Albatros aircraft. She has experience flying both the L-39 and L-159 fighter jets and is currently training to become a Gripen pilot. Her expertise in these aircraft has contributed to her growing recognition within the Czech Air Force.^[1]

Despite her groundbreaking achievements, Hlavsová does not perceive herself as a pioneer. She believes that the military provides equal opportunities to those who can demonstrate their skills and dedication. However, she acknowledges that people are often surprised to see a woman in her role.
