English: An 86 year old man with known pancreatic cancer (presumably adenocarcinoma), seen incidentally on CT 2 months prior, then measuring 3 cm. The patient now presents with hyperbilirubinemia. Abdominal ultrasonography with Doppler shows the following:
The cancer in the pancreatic head is seen as hypoechoic, and has grown to 4.5 cm. A dilated pancreatic duct is seen to the right of it.
Image of the dilated pancreatic duct in the body of the pancreas. It is colorless (black) in contrast to blood vessels (splenic vein closest below, and superior mesenteric artery at bottom)) which have Doppler signal.
Also dilated intrahepatic bile ducts. They are colorless (black) in contrast to blood vessels (portal vein near center, and hepatic artery to the right of it) which have Doppler signal.
