English: Pont Marquis. A view of Pont Marquis (Bridge) from Bont Marquis Farm. The corrugated iron shed to the right is the remains of a building that was used by Italian and German prisoners of war during WWII. The prisoners were given the task of building red brick culverts across the drains in the surrounding marsh land. I understand that the prisoners were not fenced in a compound, but were fee to roam around, they frequently bartered there skills with locals in exchange for more food. |
