Chakravarthy Chandrachud (born 15 August 1977) is an Indian journalist, poet, social activist, actor, writer, director, and debater from Karnataka's. He debuted as an actor in the Kannada film Melobba Mayaavi (2019).

Chakravarthy Chandrachud was born on August 15, 1977, in Devanur, a village in Karnataka's's Chikmagalur District.^{[citation needed]} Born into a farming family, he earned a degree in Instrumentation Technology from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), Mysore.^{[citation needed]} He then completed a postgraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Mysore, followed by an M.Phil from Kuppam.^{[citation needed]} In 2013, he married Kannada actress Shruthi.^{[citation needed]} Citing family disputes, the couple separated in 2018.^{[citation needed]}

Chandrachud's journalism career began as a college student. With nearly 21 years of experience, he has worked with Janamitra, a local newspaper in Hassan, and the Mysore's daily, Andolana. He has also been associated with weeklies such as Hai Bangalore, Agni, and Lankesh Patrike, where he served as an editor.^{[citation needed]}

Chandrachud has been actively involved in social activism, associating with organizations such as the Students' Federation of India (SFI)^[1] and DFI for their national-level work. He is a leader of the Hasiru Sene, a wing of the state's Farmers' Union, and has participated in pro-Kannada movements.

He is the founder of 'People for People,' an organization formed to advocate for the Kalasa Banduri Movement. He also established an organization that provided relief to those affected by floods in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Orissa. He has been associated with irrigational reform movements in the state and has been jailed and involved in legal activism in this area.^{[citation needed]}

Chandrachud's first book, Jana Jala Kranti, examines the work of Anna Hazare and Rajendra Singh in irrigation reforms. Research conducted in Rajasthan and Maharashtra contributed to this work, which earned him the National Environmental Award. Khaali Shilube (The Empty Cross), was released at a crematorium in Chamrajpet, Bangalore, and Mailu Tutta, was released at Malleshwaram's Dhobhi Ghat. 'Katha Bharata' is his fourth book, a narrative of India's evolution as influenced by its revolutions.^{[citation needed]}

He has worked in the Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam. He directed and wrote Janma, a movie set against the backdrop of the Kaveri issue that portrays the chaos following the death of Kannada matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar. He directed both the Kannada and Tamil versions. As a writer, he has worked on movies such as Melobba Mayavi, Janma, Mahuta, Paadaraya, and Love You Alia. As an actor, he has appeared in Janma, Melobba Mayavi, Demo Piece, Ranganayaki, Football Mariyammana (Malayalam), Kalidasa Kannada Meshtru, 1975, Madhyantara and DSS. He has acted in an upcoming Hindi web series. His participation in Bigg Boss Season 8 brought him further attention.^{[citation needed]}
