Thanks Night Lantern! Looking forward to improving WP content on Penang (and Malaysia in general) together! hundenvonPG (talk) 08:57, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Leave some Penang articles for the rest of us... CMD (talk) 09:04, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Haha! Feel free to join in! Still quite alot that could be improved, I reckon. hundenvonPG (talk) 09:09, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Silicon Island

On 23 January 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Silicon Island, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a plan to reclaim three islets in Penang was scaled down to just one—Silicon Island (pictured)—after an intervention by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Silicon Island. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Silicon Island), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Triple Crown

HundenvonPenang, I am pleased to award you a Triple Crown. Penang is lucky to have such a great Wikipedian living there. Damien Linnane (talk) 07:27, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Damien! 😀 hundenvonPG (talk) 09:02, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And CMD too, for this 😀 hundenvonPG (talk) 16:08, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
HundenvonPenang, I am pleased to offer in support of the above the new WikiProject Malaysia Triple Crown, reflecting the focus of the work contributed. CMD (talk) 11:52, 23 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Francis Kok Wah Loh chapter

Hi, regarding the source I added to George Town[1], if you can access it there's a large section about Penang's economic development you might be interested in. CMD (talk) 09:24, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks CMD! First glance, from the book, there is potentially more to add onto existing content about economic development under Lim Chong Eu. hundenvonPG (talk) 05:10, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Economic history of Penang seems a very viable topic. CMD (talk) 07:13, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's an idea. I also happen to come across this book: From Free Port to Modern Economy: Economic Development and Social Change in Penang, 1969 to 1990.
There is ample material, especially on post-independence economic development, for such an article. hundenvonPG (talk) 08:44, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well if there's enough to make a book covering two decades, there's definitely content for an article covering multiple centuries! The transition from Free Port to the current economy does sound an interesting sub-topic though. CMD (talk) 13:32, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly. Not all economic data would be available from the colonial era, but presumably content on economic activities pre-WW2 are adequate at the very least. hundenvonPG (talk) 16:44, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
