Some baklava for you!

Hi Seefood diet

Thank you for your contribution. I will try to follow your suggestion. I have corrected the grammar below. Could you please review and add it to the lead section?

Mr. Yoon is being investigated on charges of sedition and treason. [1], and he has been impeached by the National Assembly. Goodtiming8871 (talk) 13:21, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for being receptive. We don't use "Mr." on Wikipedia, per MOS:MR. There's an extra space and comma in that sentence. In the lead of that article, it already mentions the impeachment. Treason and sedition may be able to go in, but those are just investigations. I think may be better to wait until he's actually convicted for those to go in. seefooddiet (talk) 13:24, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your feedback. It's an issue that has caused national harm even before the guilty verdict, so I think it would be good to include that part, so I'm planning to include it with more supporting references. Goodtiming8871 (talk) 13:47, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please, please consider holding back. Each of these edits has issues in them and the topic is so sensitive that I'm not sure these edits are helping the situation. I may ask others to take a look at these edits and give their thoughts on whether they are appropriate if this continues. seefooddiet (talk) 13:50, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A cup of tea for you!

Thank you for your contribution,

Can you wait for about 10 minutes when another user is editing? I was adding related sources according to the editing format. If possible, I will try to include the sources together with the main text in the future. Goodtiming8871 (talk) 13:42, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Per [1] I'd like to request that you withhold from editing those articles in the near future. Are you a Korean speaker by any chance? I've noticed that you've been mistranslating things; on a WP:BLP and on a page about a national crisis I think it's worrying. I wouldn't feel comfortable making these mistakes... Alledging the allowing of the use of swords is really serious. seefooddiet (talk) 13:45, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A goat for you!

Hello SeeFooddiet, I am an American who speaks Korean like you.The following content contains information that Yoon Seok-yeol ordered the use of a knife. If you accidentally missed the information and please reverted it, Or I can do it later.

  • The first ref contains the relevant content (e.g. about Knife) in the video included in the news, and
  • the second ref contains the relevant content in the text.

Translated news content: "He reportedly gave instructions to 'stop the police who were coming to arrest me with a knife, even if they were not guns,'" the report said.

Original news content: ‘

Yoon Seok-yeol requested the Presidential Security Service to use force such as a sword to stop the police who were coming to arrest him. Executives of the Presidential Security Service complained that Yoon Seok-yeol's instructions were wrong, and sent 15 security guards on leave. [1] [2]

Goodtiming8871 (talk) 14:10, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

칼 is not necessarily "sword", it more frequently refers to knives. Swords would be bizarre in 2025. Are you a Korean speaker? seefooddiet (talk) 14:21, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I have a question.

Thank you very much for contributing various information about South Korea. I work on Korean Wikipedia and English Wikipedia. I mainly supplement Korean Wikipedia articles about Korea that are not translated into English and translate them into English Wikipedia. Do you know how to translate an article that has already been translated into English? I would like to translate a short article with Korean news articles. Thank you. LandAndTree (talk) 17:27, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, could you rephrase your question? I didn't quite understand it.
LandAndTree (talk) 17:52, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
WP:NONENG Citations to non-English reliable sources are allowed on the English Wikipedia. However, because this project is in English, English-language sources are preferred over non-English ones when they are available and of equal quality and relevance.
LandAndTree (talk) 18:10, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea#New articles
LandAndTree (talk) 18:36, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
LandAndTree (talk) 19:15, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

LandAndTree (talk) 08:38, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Jeju treasures

Hi Seefooddiet, regarding your post on the list of South Korean national treasures, I actually wanted awhile ago to try and create something about the Jeju treasures list However, there are so many more hundreds of them, and I couldn't find a comprehensive list. There are so many that I doubt they all have notability, but they might work as a list. They aren't really covered on ko.wiki either. Are you aware of any information on the topic? Best, CMD (talk) 07:02, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[3] I think this is a complete list? Is there only 7? This is the kowiki category: ko:분류:제주특별자치도의 보물. seefooddiet (talk) 07:21, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I found that list too, but it doesn't seem to be what I'm looking for. For example, I was also looking at creating an article for the Tamnasullyeokdo (탐라순력도), which is supposedly Treasure No. 652-6 (보물 제652-6호). CMD (talk) 08:22, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To my understanding, the "652-6" is counting the total number of treasures across all of South Korea. ko:대한민국의 보물 lists over 2000 treasures. ko:대한민국의 보물 (1970년대 후반) has 652, and ko:이형상 수고본 lists 652-6. seefooddiet (talk) 08:28, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ah thanks! That's very helpful and makes a lot of sense, clearly I have encountered a bit of local pride, possibly as the National Treasure (South Korea) does not include anything in Jeju. I did find ko:탐라순력도, but as you can see sadly not that many sources to work from. I see one or two places in Historic Sites (South Korea) which might be easier to write about, maybe I'll start with them in a week or so. If I do I'll put them into your WT:KR section. CMD (talk) 09:06, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nice 🙂 I visit Jeju pretty often; was just there again last month. I wrote a few Jeju-related articles like Doldam, Dol hareubang, Olle (alley), and Bangsatap. I'll be joining you in writing more! seefooddiet (talk) 09:22, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wow, those are nice articles. The etymology part of Bangsatap is very enlightening; I don't think I ever came across the word bangsatap, but did come across dap and geobuk. I have quite a few topics in my mind relating to Jeju that need articles, I just need to find the time to sort through my thoughts. I have noticed that even ko.wiki pages lack images for places in Jeju, so I will try and get around to finding some of those too. CMD (talk) 09:33, 6 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Article for Submission needs a reviewer who understands Korean

Hi @Seefooddiet. I’m reaching out because, given your understanding of Korean, I believe you’d be an excellent fit to review my draft, which includes multiple Korean sources. My draft was previously declined due to concerns about notability, but the individual I wrote about is indeed well-known. The challenge seems to be that most of the available news coverage is in Korean, which may have made it difficult for previous reviewers to assess properly. If you have the time, I’d really appreciate it if you could take a look at my submission: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Chung_Kisun. Thank you! Haileyworks (talk) 00:14, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think he's likely notable by enwiki standards but would need to research more in depth. Given the drama in that family I imagine there's adequate sourcing.
I think Safari Scribe's comment is applicable: The sources were all about HD Hyundai, hence WP:NOTINHERIT applies here. On a quick search I'm also having a hard time finding a source that discusses him significantly in depth separately from HD Hyundai. I encourage you to add sources to that effect and add them. I'll vouch for you once you do. seefooddiet (talk) 00:41, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Seefooddiet that’s incredibly helpful—I truly appreciate it. It’s great to see someone knowledgeable about the Chung family’s history. Following Safari Scribe’s comment, I added dozens of sources detailing Kisun Chung’s independent business activities, and with your advice, I’ve further expanded and reinforced them. I would be grateful if you could review the current 30+ references and let me know if there’s anything else I can do to improve the piece. Haileyworks (talk) 05:17, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
[22] (the 조선비즈 source) probably has the most discussion of him separately from the context of anything Hyundai related. I haven't looked in detail through many of the sources though; there's a lot to read. Could you point out several sources you think most discuss him separately outside of Hyundai? seefooddiet (talk) 06:43, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. Sources [4] (Fortune Korea) and [6] (Hankyung Business) provide more detailed discussions of his role, while other news sources mention him in various business contexts, albeit to a lesser extent.
I've also revised the text to make it more neutral overall, following the advice of the other editor, Ca. (Previously, I had largely quoted expressions from the mentioned sources.)
I would greatly appreciate it if you could review the text again. Thank you very much! Haileyworks (talk) 23:41, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Seefooddiet, I really appreciate your help in improving my first article the other day! I'm excited about this very first milestone and look forward to seeing what's ahead in my journey on Wikipedia. I have one more question - I was wondering if there’s anything I can do to get the article patrolled, as it doesn’t seem to appear in Google search results yet. Would you be able to assist with this once again? Thanks in advance! Haileyworks (talk) 07:49, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
