History

Shioiri Station opened on 21 May 1923 as a through-station operated by Japanese Government Railways (later becoming Japanese National Railways or JNR) when the then Sanuki Line (讃岐線) from Tadotsu to Kotohira was extended to Sanuki-Saida. With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, control of the station passed to JR Shikoku.[4][6]
