Shahid Mahmood Baig (Urdu: شاہد محمود بیگ) is a Pakistani scientist and geneticist.

Education and Academic Career

Shahid Mahmood Baig was born in Pakistan. He earned his F.Sc. (Biology) in 1978, and B.Sc. (Biology) in 1981 from Gordon College Rawalpindi, M.Sc. (Biology) in 1984, MPhil (Physiology of Reproduction) in 1986, and PhD (Human Molecular Genetics) in 1997 from Quaid-I-Azam University Islamabad (PhD research at Bosphorus University, Istanbul, Turkey), first postdoc (Molecular Biology and Genetics) from King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2000, and second postdoc (Oncogenomics) from Duke University, Durham, NC, USA, in 2012.[2]

In 2023, Baig was elected a Fellow of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences.[3]
