Peter Alan Jonas (born March 14, 1997),[1] better known by his stage name Pete Jonas, is an American musician and businessman. Based in Los Angeles, California, he began his career in 2019 while a senior in college at the Berklee College of Music performing with Jagwar Twin as the opening act for Avril Lavigne on her Head Above Water world tour.[2]
He is also the founder and Creative Director of Positively Records, an LA based vinyl record company that has produced and released vinyl records for artists such as Skizzy Mars and Marc E. Bassy.[3]
Early life
Peter Alan Jonas was born on March 14, 1997, the youngest of two, in Elgin, Illinois. He spent part of his childhood living in Hong Kong and Aliso Viejo before settling down in San Juan Capistrano, California. As a child, he spent most summers in Frederick, Maryland visiting his mother.
Jonas attended San Juan Hills High School[4] and went to college at Chapman University.[5] While at Chapman, he worked for Frank Sinatra Jr. (no relation to the singer) the founding partner of the apparel brand Stussy. He later transferred to the Berklee College of Music where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in contemporary writing and production and a minor in orchestra conducting in 2019.[6] Jonas was nearly rejected from Berklee when a mixup caused him to miss his scheduled audition, but he was given a rare special exception by the auditioner.
Career
Beginnings (2019-2022)

Shortly after graduating college, Jonas began working at the Beehive LA,[7] as a musical director for artists including Halsey, Bebe Rexha, The Chainsmokers, Alina Baraz, Empress Of and Kenzie. Jonas is also an accomplished guitarist, having served as lead guitar for Goody Grace, Charlotte Lawrence and Marc E. Bassy, the latter of whom Jonas would go on to become a frequent collaborator with. Jonas worked as a producer, songwriter and instrumentalist throughout Bassy's albums Little Men,[8] East Hollywood 2[9] and Folk Hero Funk.[10]
During this time, Jonas also worked as a pianist and guitarist for Avril Lavigne and additionally was a vocal producer and engineer on her single "We Are Warriors", which he performed live to raise money for Project HOPE during the COVID-19 pandemic.[11] He has performed several times on Jimmy Kimmel Live with musicians Madison Beer[12] and Morray.[13] He was a vocal engineer for the live virtual concert event for Halsey's 2021 album If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power.[14]
2023-present

Since 2023, Jonas has been the lead guitarist for Suki Waterhouse, performing with her at Coachella 2024 and her Sparklemuffin World Tour.[15]
In August of 2023, Jonas flew to Seoul, South Korea to perform with K-pop star V of BTS for Tiny Desk Korea.[16]
Jonas, together with fellow musician Peter Sullivan, formed an underground vinyl DJ duo known as The Peters, performing at various clubs and events around Los Angeles, including at a campaign speaking event in November of 2023 for presidential candidate Cornel West.[17]
Positively Records

In 2021, Jonas, along with childhood friend Joey Lerner, founded hi-fi vinyl record company Positively Records.[3] The company has produced and released vinyl albums for artists Margot & the Nuclear So and So's, Richard Edwards, and Marc E. Bassy. Positively Records also printed the 10th anniversary reissue of Skizzy Mars's album The Red Balloon Project, and the 11th anniversary reissue of Margot & the Nuclear So and So's album Rot Gut, Domestic.[18]
Personal life
In 2020, Jonas was in a relationship with Canadian pop singer Avril Lavigne.[2] He is an avid fan of the New York Knicks.[19]
