Chenraj Roychand (born 7 July 1961) is an Indian educationist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He is the founder of the Jain Group and has served as chancellor of Jain University since 1990.[1]

Jain University

In 1990, Roychand started the Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College in Bangalore at VV Puram. Over two decades, he went on to establish schools and colleges across the country.[citation needed] Jain University was declared a Deemed University under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

Chenraj Roychand Center for Entrepreneurship

Roychand established the Chenraj Roychand Center for Entrepreneurship in 2001.[2] The center aims to create an ecosystem to produce successful social entrepreneurs. He began his entrepreneurial journey at a young age, leveraging his experience to identify genuine creative minds capable of working with passion and producing turbulent growth. His supportive attitude toward his underlings encourages many to follow their passions. The center has so far incubated 50 companies, where the companies are trained to identify an idea, understand hi-tech markets, and develop emerging technologies. Roychand has plans to create 500 entrepreneurs in the next five years.[3][4]

T. V. Mohandas Pai, Chairman of Manipal Global Education, said that Roychand, "is the Indian version of an angel investor with a lot of mentoring and support, where you treat it as a family business and the entrepreneur becomes part of the family. It is not like the Western model of high growth and high return. Here, the person who is mentoring is more important than the investment."[5]
