PF-07321332
Hi Anome
I note that you have been thinking today whether the article PF-07321332 should be moved to Paxlovid. I think you did the right thing by leaving it where it is for now. Paxlovid is definitely a Pfizer trademark and as far as I can determine they have not yet announced a proper "common name" for the compound. Pharma and AgChem companies are increasingly trying to avoid using common names, much preferring to get customers to only use their trademark. I think that Wikipedia should resist that pressure. When PF-07321332 is assigned a common name, we should move to using that but meanwhile leave well alone (although redirects are fine, of course). Mike Turnbull (talk) 17:05, 5 November 2021 (UTC)
- I think you're right; that's exactly my reasoning for moving it back after the initial move. -- The Anome (talk) 17:22, 5 November 2021 (UTC)

Dear The Anome/Archive 14,
I'd like to extend a cordial invitation to you to join the Twenty Year Society, an informal group for editors who've been participating in the Wikipedia project for twenty years or more. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Weaveravel (talk • contribs) 10:19, 12 November 2021 (UTC)

Hey
...you blocked User:Kamen rider saber is back! a while back--thanks. Turns out, they tried to create a whole bunch of impersonation accounts (you know, Drm.ies and variations like that), and they are clearly the same person as User:Cum deep 125, who did the same kind of stupid stuff. Looking at these edits, the gorilla thing jogs my memory but I can't remember who that was--but I suspect you do. Is there an SPI? I dropped some blocks, but there's not very much I can do. Thanks for your help, Drmies (talk) 16:26, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Drmies: Hi. I'm afraid I wasn't aware of the context; unfortunately, nothing jogs my memory either, so I can't be much help here. "Is back!" accounts are certainly usually signs of a long-term abuser, but I can't pin it down to any particular SPI. -- The Anome (talk) 12:38, 26 November 2021 (UTC)

@The Anome I did not see that you had added a citation in Zipper BDSM, and the latest diff I saw was that, you had removed the the maintenance tag, so I thought it to be a vandalism, and reverted it. But when I saw that you had already added a citation, I reverted my edits, and I also reverted the warning that I left on your talk page.

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. Participation in a signpost interview
Hi The Anome, hope that you're well. I was wondering if you'd be able to participate in a Signpost interview in your capacity as a contributor to WP:COVID19? I am enthusiastic about these interviews because they help remind other Wikipedians about the passionate and diverse group of volunteers that edit Wikipedia, and into the many discussions and editors that inhabit our space, nooks and crannies. Invitation to take part in a survey about medical topics on Wikipedia
Dear fellow editor,
I am Piotr Konieczny, a sociologist of new media at Hanyang University (and User:Piotrus on Wikipedia). I would like to better understand Wikipedia's volunteers who edit medical topics, many associated with the WikiProject Medicine, and known to create some of the highest quality content on Wikipedia. I hope that the lessons I can learn from you that I will present to the academic audience will benefit both the WikiProject Medicine (improving your understanding of yourself and helping to promote it and attract new volunteers) and the wider world of medical volunteering and academia. Open access copy of the resulting research will be made available at WikiProject's Medicine upon the completion of the project.
All questions are optional. The survey is divided into 4 parts: 1 - Brief description of yourself; 2 - Questions about your volunteering; 3 - Questions about WikiProject Medicine and 4 - Questions about Wikipedia's coverage of medical topics.
Please note that by filling out this questionnaire, you consent to participate in this research. The survey is anonymous and all personal details relevant to your experience will be kept private and will not be transferred to any third party.
I appreciate your support of this research and thank you in advance for taking the time to participate and share your experiences! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at my Wikipedia user page or through my email listed on the survey page (or by Wikipedia email this user function).
The survey is accessible through the LINK HERE.

Congratulations!
Hey, Anome,
I was just stumbling around, looking at various bot reports and found Wikipedia:Database reports/Active editors with the longest-established accounts which states you have been editing Wikipedia for over 20 years! There should be a special barnstar, badge or something but there are only about two dozen recipients who could receive it so maybe it'll take a while to be created.
Congratulations on your longevity! I'm glad Wikipedia has kept your interest. We all benefit from you and your bots' editing. Liz Read! Talk! 00:34, 17 December 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Austrian anti-vaccination activists

A tag has been placed on Category:Austrian anti-vaccination activists indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Hana Horka
I redirected her bio to Asonance as I couldn't find any coverage of her other than about her death from COVID-19. Per BLP1E, we shouldn't have a separate article on her as her death was in itself not a major event. You can add more info to the band's article. Fences&Windows 23:32, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Fences and windows: I've reverted your edit; please see Wikipedia:What BLP1E is not. She is known for two things: her membership of a well-known Czech musical group, and dying for her anti-vax beliefs, something which has achieved global notoriety and world-wide media coverage. I'm really tired of BLP1E being used as a blanket policy to delete articles on anti-vax deaths. Please take it to AFD if you want to delete it. -- The Anome (talk) 07:23, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- Sure thing: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hana Horka. I don't know of other cases of anti-vax deaths having articles, I just saw this one and thought it was inappropriate. An analogous list was deleted: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of gender reveal party accidents. Fences&Windows 13:29, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
Malfunctioning bot
Anomebot2 seems to be malfunctioning; it's adding coordinates with both negative longitudes and "W" longitudes, causing a spurt of entries in Category:Pages with malformed coordinate tags. I don't want to shut dowm the bot without giving you a chance to fix this. Deor (talk) 19:28, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Deor: Oh no! Thanks for the heads-up: this is a silly programming error on my part. I have stopped that bot run, and will set the bot to fix all those errors tomorrow morning, so there should be no need to fix them by hand. Fortunately, it looks like only 157 have slipped through so far. -- The Anome (talk) 19:43, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- OK. You'll have to unblock the bot, which I blocked, since it was continuing with similar edits. (It's also adding overprecise coordinates, apparently getting them from Wikidata, and not adding region codes or location types. I consider that less than optimal) Deor (talk) 19:47, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- I will unblock the bot, and also roll back the contentious edits, hopefully by tomorrow morning, and I will not add them again until I've got consensus. -- The Anome (talk) 20:02, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Deor:I've removed the tags, thus clearing out Category:Pages with malformed coordinate tags; this is not a perfect fix because doing this will have messed with stub notice formatting in some cases, but I will go back and fix that in a separate pass later once I've fixed the tag-remover code. Once that's done, everything should have been restored to its pristine state. -- The Anome (talk) 13:17, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

@Deor: I've fixed the formatting glitches now, and also reinstated as many of the coord missing tags as I could easily find. I'll take a deeper look later for any remaining data loss from these edits, and either write some code or hand-fix the last of it. -- The Anome (talk) 20:00, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

I'll put it up for review before running it again. The article Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Tagged for notability since 2011. Very promotional. Zero sources found
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Category:Daman and Diu articles missing geocoordinate data indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
Liz Read! The article Hi Octane has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Sources are primary or not about the show. Given its extremely short life, it likely attracted no attention from media
