Asiatisk Kompagnins skib 'Kronprinsessen af Danmark', sejlede i 1748-1750 til Tranquebar. Ombord på skibet førte skibsrådet nøje protokol over de konflikter der opstod ombord på den 6 måneders lange rejse - hver vej. D. 7. november blev skibskokken anklaget for at lave for dårlig og uhygiejninsk mad - men inden den endelige dom nåede at blive afsagt, havde kokken kastet sig overbord 'i desperation'.
